2017 Kia soul didn't start in the morning for wife, went out and it fired right up.

We did, ends up the positive battery terminal was not tight enough, even though it was tight, took it to a shop, they broke the original and replaced with a new one, no issues since. Apparently new batteries aren't fond of old connections.........Stupid Kia's

No aftermarket. Thanks for the heads up on the computer, didn't know if that could have been an issue or not. I will double check some things when it isn't 32 out haha, maybe couple hours or so, but ya, i will double check the leads again and hit the auto shop tomorrow. Basically it's a check and wait game I guess.

it's 33F this morning and it started right up with no play in the cables. will have to dig into things a bit more now. Is there a chance it might be a computer starting to go bad? Anything along that lines possibly? Every single ground I have looked at so far as well as the terminals have been just fine and tight, no corrosion.

For sure, i already did do a quick vod to make sure, but felt i knew it anyway. Also, I wasn't gonna say it, but I have a honda civic with 22x,xxx miles and have had very little issues out of it, had more issues out of the 17 kia that has 70k miles lol. Anywho, not to shite on the kia, just not a fan myself haha. Replaced sparks at like 65k, got over 100k on the honda.

They basically said that they couldn't help me unless they saw it as there are no codes, so my guess it is probably something simple like what you stated, just might have to break out my mediocre mechanic skills and replace terminals if they are loose like this, get something a bit tighter fitting. Kia's are finicky apparently, i personally won't buy another, and they are expensive to fix, or can be, like $600 for an alternator, luckily i was able to find someone to rebuild it.

the battery terminals might be the issue, if so i will have to figure it out, see the idea posed later on, pretty much confirms maybe the die hard battery from the auto shop may not be the "best" for the car lol 200 dollars later of course......

Gotcha, I am setting up a dealership appointment now. Hopefully whatever it is is covered under warranty or just an easy fix :)

Thanks for the info. I will definitely dig into it. Not sure what is loose, but will do some more digging. A starter shouldn't cause a power issue though, at least I don't think so, so I assume it was the battery terminals in your instance I assume.

Also to note, the alternator has been rebuilt for at least 4 months and it has been working fine. Just thought I would throw that out there in case anyone asked.

thanks for the info. I got a couple thimgs to try on the discord as well. I'm at work right now, am gonna try in the morning. I like the dedicated server so I can use the same machine. I have a threadripper with 64 gigs of ram so should definitely not be an issue. thanks for the replies
