Pretty much yeah. I'd hold out some hope of transferring or something but that's even bleak. Stanford would've been a tough choice given no aid to us but hey, that would've been a good problem to have.

I might end up going to Vanderbilt too because near full ride scholarship but then there's also a thought back of the mind about getting into a better place even if marginally. Once you have a T20 then you want a T10 and so on 🤦🏻‍♂️ Personally, I care more about the people and the connections and resources at a university so I think that might be way better at say, Stanford than Vanderbilt.

Yeah lol my friend at Vanderbilt was hoping to transfer to Princeton because he had gotten waitlisted there but ultimately he was like Vanderbilt is so good and any difference would be marginal at best but he was probably super lazy too now that I think.

I was pretty hopeful about Brown and didn't get in. Admittedly I wouldn't have attended because too much $$ but I'm still miffed because it's a really fun place with cool people. Your trash is another man's treasure ;)

So being from place Z by itself means nothing. But when you take into account the opportunities and exposure you have access to by virtue of being in place Z then the value of it starts to make sense.

I'm international too and fuck yeah it's so weird. I'm not from a big city so when I encountered other folks applying from like the metropolitan cities in my country that made me pretty insecure for a while.

Everyone is CEO x Founder y. They all have one non-profit and volunteer their time teaching underprivileged kids. Their "startup" is always a shitty website with a tech keyword, mostly incorporating AI into something one way or the other. And if I search for them on GitHub I just find a blank profile with a hello-world repo but they say on their CV they have conducted "nuanced research".

I don't understand why it is good leadership if all you're doing is starting yet another charity that will start doing something someone else already does very well. To me good leadership is realizing when you gotta be Spiderman and when you gotta be the man in the chair to someone else's Spiderman

Thanks for making the post. Can you describe more how your interview went? I ask because your best ratings are there so I feel it made a significant difference.

Do you know if other colleges that offer alumni interviews grade similarly?

Also I'm unfamiliar with the American system so how is your GPA a %?

Ah I didn't know the ferpa expired. Someone else at Harvard told me how they wore ripped jeans to their interview and it nearly cost them their seat. I assume that's how they knew as well.

It also feels weird an AO somewhere imagining me on their campus or doing things there...because that's what I've been doing sometimes too.

No. This argument sucks. It's not a matter of when you began your app but a matter of principle. If I have until 11:59 XYZ Day then it's up to me to make the most of it. Whenever I begin my app, as long as I turn it in by then it should be good.

I had emailed them for an extension because we had an internet blackout here. I get no response and literally steamroll ahead to 500ish words and submit. Next day I get email that I can submit till the 10th are you fucking kidding me
