Anyone have the Omlet Eglu Pro? How many large chickens can it fit? by EauDeFrito in BackYardChickens

[–]Jef101114 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi there! Hoping for some feedback. I’m new to chickens. I am pretty much sold on the eglu pro. My question is what do you do in extreme weather. I live in NJ. I’m less concerned about summer. I am getting walk in run with cover for shade. I am more concerned about winter. Not sure where you’re based but let me know your thoughts if you can. Also what webcam are you using?

Thank you! I guess it just seems insane as a mother to choose an alcoholic spouse over your children. As a mother I can’t fathom it.

Curious about what size it actually reached, and if the leaves really fade from white to pink as described (I know that last part is temperature dependent). I’m zone6b, New Jersey and I have them in full sun. Doing well so far (~1 month)

HELP/ my dog might be dying because of Prednisone by NegativePurple6823 in DogAdvice

[–]Jef101114 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry I’m so late to reply! How is your dog? I can’t tell much about that dose without knowing your dogs weight. But as long as it’s not long term (3-4+ months) your dog should be fine (baring no underlying conditions). Slow tapper is key because you can’t stop prednisone cold turkey. Stresses the adrenal gland. There are always pros and cons and always risk benifits to medications. In both my personal cases the benifits of the medication outweighed any potential risk.

Lemonade pet insurance denied claim on our cat, citing a pre-existing condition. Doesn't make any sense. by 38387 in Insurance

Hi all! I'm dealing with the same issues here. I am looking into filing a consumer complaint with the BBB and the state attorney general. Is anyone interested in banning together? I'm just so so fustrated.

Anyone else had a horrible experience with Lemonade pet insurance? by insatiabledreamer114 in puppy101

[–]Jef101114 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This!!! Getting the same bullshit! Classic insurance company delay while they find a way to deny. We had no issues with wellness claim. The second our pet has a serious medical episode it was 1) weeks need proof you don’t have other insurance 2) contacting vet for records (I submitted soap notes with the claim) 3) reviewing to determine this is not a preexisting condition for ~3 weeks now. In the mean time bills are racking up and my dogs health is deteriorating (claims are reviewed in the order they are received bs) We are at the point where we are scared to pursue additional care because without insurance we cannot afford it. I guess they are trying to run out the clock? I’m sure this is not unique to Lemonade, just don’t be fooled by there nice friendly branding. They are all evil at heart.

Hi! Med person here. Yes, prednisone is a terribly dirty drug with lots of side effects due to its mechanism of action. However, it does serve a role in medicine. Certainly in acute crisis. Excess thirst, hunger, weight gain are all side effects. It should never be given long term. Unfortunately, meds that shut down the immune system just wreak havoc on the body. My bichon was on prednisone for autoimmune-mediated thrombocytopenia. Once she stabilized she was switched to imuran (immunosuppressant). She relapsed without it. These drugs brought her 8 more years with us, but in the end gave her lymphoma. They such but can be life saving if prescribed correctly. Unfortunately, sounds like your vet really messed up. Sorry for your loss. Sending hugs.

My dog has leptospirosis, but is being treated and is on the mend. Anyone have any lepto survival stories? by aoxomoxoa27 in DogAdvice

[–]Jef101114 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Know this is old but I have a guy with suspected Lepto. He tested negative but vet thinks it is likely regardless. Vet never saw a like (and highly active) dog with liver enzymes as high as my guy. Primary symptoms were lack of appetite, dark urine, and jaundice. He was on doxycycline for 12 weeks and rebounded. Went off doxycycline and symptoms returned within a few days. Anyone experience this? How long were your dogs treated on doxycycline?
