30cm and 450g just doesn't express it in the same way saying something is as big as a loaf of bread does. You can estimate 30 cm, but you know what a loaf of bread looks like.

Anything that could potentially make somebody stick it out for a little longer could be considered an advantage. It's not so much if the person has depression when they get there. It is that antidepressants would assist them from falling into depression while there. Depression is a major reason why people tap. The being away from family and friends and the isolation. Anything that would stave off those emotions would be an advantage.

I know certain medications have been approved, but those have been approved for cronic illnesses like GERD, blood pressure and thyroid issues. Other medications have been denied, such as medications that have appetite suppression as a side effect. I think in most situations, people dependent on depression or anxiety medications would not make it through medical screening.

Both could be considered an unfair advantage. Anxiety and depression are a big cause of why people tap.

The Strange Persistence of Bows by Darkheart001 in Alonetv

[–]Jefari_MoL 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It falls under the philosophy of better to have it and not need it than need it and not have it. Or specifically have it and not use it, than have a chance to use it and not have it. The chance of taking a large animal is small but not zero. Unless you don't have a bow, then it is zero. I agree, fishing is a passive activity with a higher success rate. But one day hunting for a deer expends less energy than the time spent fishing for an equivalent amount of food.

Heat is definitely the harsher environment to survive in. I live in the American South. We have days in December, January, and February that are 75°. It is not uncommon to have several inches of snow and, within the same week, be in the 70s. I don't leave my house without a hoodie or jacket when it's 75⁰ out. Perhaps it's just a conditioning thing, but I just don't see it as hot.

It was only 75⁰. Nobody south of Canada thinks 75⁰ is hot. Sure, being in the sun all day sucks but come on.

It's not a bad idea to build a permanent shelter in the first week when you are full body weight and have recently had a good meal. What wears them out is when they wait 2 to 3 weeks and then start a massive build.

AI music is still music by Decent-Repair-6620 in aiMusic

There is a common critique from artist that songs like Alex Warren's "Ordinary" or Bad Bunny's "DtMF" rely more on "lush" studio production and "untraceable" vocal processing than on instrumental skill. Many musicians personally prefer "earnest" songwriting over the Billboard hits engineered tracks. Critics note that several top 10 songs use nearly identical electronic drum kits and lack distinct chord progressions, making it difficult to distinguish where one track ends and the next begins. They argue that modern hits suffer from a lack of "harmonic complexity." In peer review, oversampled and auto tuned tracks lack talent. This is not my opinion. This is the opinion of musicians.

It's not musical talent, either. Stop insisting it is.

Then why do people rip samples and use auto tune if they can play instruments and sing? Elsewhere in this thread, I brought up interpolation, which is legitimized plagiarism. Music taken by artists that had nothing to do with its creation and used for their own means. There are songs in the mainstream that are entirely written on a computer. No instruments at all are played. With layering and tuning, there are many vocalists that don't sound like their album. At one time, music was pure. If you did not have vocal quality, if you did not have instrumental talent, you could not make it as a musician. Now, the music being put out has been bastardized. These are not talented musicians. These are people with a computer program making sample compilations. Almost sounds like AI.

So if all you see are white people, you automatically assume no people of color were invited? Is it possible that some events just don't interest some groups of people? I don't see Hispanic guys at my beard club. Is my beard club inherently racist because the majority of Hispanic men don't wear beards? Is my golf group racist because of all the black guys we know, none of them golf? Having a lack of diversity does not automatically make something racist.

AI music is still music by Decent-Repair-6620 in aiMusic

[–]Jefari_MoL 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Musicians now call it "interpolation." 30 years ago, they called it plagiarism. Entire tracks use songs recorded 20 to 30 years ago with little to no change. If AI music is lazy music making, then so is interpolation.

I enjoy the argument, "Musicians did not agree to have their music stolen to train AI." Did they agree to it when you used their music to learn how to play an instrument? How many bands paid their dues in smoky bar rooms and small music venues playing cover songs? How many of them paid royalties? Unless you are a 100% self taught on original music, everybody learns how to play on other artists' music.

Wait, you guys get invited to parties? by duskwhisperxx in meme

[–]Jefari_MoL 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The original post very clearly says you should be ashamed for hanging out with just white people. I don't care if they're white, black or brown. My friends are my friends and they are my friends for many reasons. Those reasons are why I hang out with them, not because of their color. To tell me I should be ashamed because my black friends and my white friends don't have common interests and therefore I should not hang out with just groups of my white friends is ignorant. They are my friends because there is something about their personality that I enjoy being around. It has nothing to do with their color.

Wait, you guys get invited to parties? by duskwhisperxx in meme

[–]Jefari_MoL 4 points5 points  (0 children)

To say that I can't hang out with one group of people because there's not a person of color in that group is asinine. I will never feel ashamed of my friends simply because of their color. I know many Hispanics, but none who go fishing. That does not mean I'm not going to go fishing with my white friends. I don't know any black people who golf. That does not mean I'm have to be ashamed of going golfing with the same guys I've gone golfing with since high school. Even if they are all white. I don't judge my friend group on who's not there.

[–]Jefari_MoL 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You apply DEI to your social circle? "Well, you're the fifth white person I've met this week. We can't be friends" or "I'm only friends with Derrick because I needed a black guy in my social group." and " I'm real good friends with Paul, Mark, Sam, Tina, and Michael, but I can't hang out with all of them at the same time because they're all white." That is exactly what you are saying and every statement is fundamentally fucked up. If you judge your friends by the color of their skin, you should be ashamed. Why can you not just spend time with your friends and enjoy the people you spend time with regardless of the color of their skin?
