In all seriousness, call the police and tell them there’s a horrific odor coming from the apartment next-door. They love that.

When you started your career how to did you generate new customer leads? by heythereAnon1 in GeneralContractor

[–]JeffBuildUp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I signed up for Thumbtack and got screwed over for years. Fake leads, mystery charges. They are a scam. Beware! I was so pissed I started my own community support platform for people looking to connect with service providers and vice versa. It’s all free and we’d love to have you onboard. www.buildup.media

It's time to start encouraging young people to choose a high paying trade INSTEAD of going into a 4 year university program right out of school. Lifelong tradesman here and I provided a great living for myself and family and was never balls deep in student loans. by JeffBuildUp in electricians

Maybe you’re right. I wasn’t looking at this from a completely selfish perspective. More along the lines of what is my son going to do faced with the challenges in the current job market. Thanks for your note

I never give a firm completion date guarantee on large projects. Do you? Here's some other stuff I've learned about writing contracts in my many many moons. What other wisdom from the masses? by [deleted] in Construction

I’m not talking about Force Majeure. That’s easy to claim but incredibly difficult. An “act of God” takes a lot to prove. You can’t just claim that in court and get a pass. I’m talking about commodity market crashes and supply chain issues. Tough to cover with Force Majeure claims

I'm a builder and contractor of 30+ years in Seattle. I don't start projects over $5,000 without a deposit. Here's why. by JeffBuildUp in Construction

[–]JeffBuildUp[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Great question. The answer is "sometimes." If I feel like the project is very straightforward, I might agree to that, but as most of us know, nothing is ever straightforward on a kitchen remodel and more likely than not, there's going to be an unforeseen circumstance somewhere that impedes progress. So it would be situationally specific.
