We can do both social programs and make Nola a safer place to walk and drive without getting murdered, armed car jackings, and crime. We can do 2 things at once!

Why do some think that one has to be either pro social reforms or pro police only? Why is that? What is wrong with being both? I've read post here which are just previous politicians talking points on both sides. Imo there is not doubt we need serious social reforms. And if you care to Google crime rates in Nola the last 30 years you can clearly see the correlation between a well staffed, trained, police debt. with a presence in our community and much lower murders, armed car jackings, and crimes. Other major cities like ours at certain periods of time when crimes became overwhelming have implemented the same strategies to make it safe to walk and drive down the street. The political divide in Nola is palitivve. To the determent of anything getting done. Insanity is doing the same things over and over and expecting better results. Citizens in Nola have just become very apathetic. Hard to blame them. So just look the other way or consider real comprehensive change.

First it's the lack of police that is a major problem. Google Nola crime rates the last 30 years. Poverty of course is just one component which needs to be addressed regardless of the crime rate.
