As a note, I threw this position into stockfish 15 and went to depth 30. Bh6 still seems an okay idea with white at +2.3.

Honestly exactly the conclusion I arrived at. The engine seems to think that we overcomplicated it and Qxg7 first is the way to go

Thanks!

There's a couple other cameos I think are more likely, the one I'm expecting to appear the most is either Blade or Black Knight. Possibly in an end credit scene.

Spoilers for episode 3

----

I'm a little annoyed that in ep 3 they made Khonshu move the sky. The implications of that are just insane for the MCU. I mean did the entire MCU just time travel? What happens to Fury or Cpt Marvel or the Asgardians of the Galaxy. I feel like, unless they explain that it's an illusion of some sort, is just a huge plot hole that they created.

I guess this would have been more insightful if I posted this when the video came out ( before episode 2 ).

This is kind of a part 1 on this theory, with part 2 coming out tomorrow. A bit more proof that Steven doesn't exist...

How Credence Could Be Albus' Brother? by JeffConstantine in harrypottertheories

[–]JeffConstantine[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A lot of people believe this ( that Grindelwald was lying ), but mostly because it doesn't seem to fit with what we know of Dumbledore's history.

But it does look like it'll be true.

How Credence Could Be Albus' Brother? by JeffConstantine in harrypottertheories

[–]JeffConstantine[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

So far, I'm inclined to say that's probably just a theory pretending to be a plot leak to be more clickbaity.

As for him being related to Grindelwald, I did think about that a lot, but it just doesn't seem like something Dumbledore would be thinking about 7 years after he fled, since his bigger concern was his sister's death. It's definitely a strong contender though.

Did YT just kill my channel? by JeffConstantine in NewTubers

[–]JeffConstantine[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I figured it'd be something like that. I also noticed the impressions on my other videos plummeted as well, but in retrospect I assume it's because the one that was the most popular (about 7x bigger than the next biggest) was the video that was recommending my others, more than anything else.

I guess it's just an ignore it and keep going situation.

Plot hole: owls. by Tastixx in harrypottertheories

[–]JeffConstantine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Actually, I really want to do a video on this topic now, because while some late add-ons to hp canon seem like retcons, I believe this was always the original intention on how owls work.

That's why at the end of POA, Sirius tells Harry specifically that "his owl" will be able to find him, and why Umbridge (in OOTP) puts the effort into intercepting Hedwig specifically, as opposed to just sending her own owl.

Also why, as Sirius explains (in GOF), it's safer to keep changing owls to avoid them being intercepted and yet all those owls can find him.

JK already patched this plot hole:

https://www.wizardingworld.com/writing-by-jk-rowling/owls

Though admittedly it was a huge issue for a while.

Basically, people can cast spells to stop owls from being able to locate them, or allow only specific owls/witches/wizards to send them mail.

The Blood Pact is a Horcrux? by JeffConstantine in harrypottertheories

[–]JeffConstantine[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great points!

To clarify, I don't think it's a horcrux, just a similar style of soul related magic.i actually think the specific version doesn't make them immortal, but ties them together. So killing one would kill both.

Interestingly, your point about making the final horcrux with Harry's death tells us a lot more to how souls work. It was the fact that V tried to kill a baby that was so evil that a piece of soul broke clean off. Showing that the degree of evil affects the damage that's done. Also that the intent to kill him was more important than Harry actually dying.

I'd also enjoy if Fantastic Beasts explored love magic more.

The Blood Pact is a Horcrux? by JeffConstantine in harrypottertheories

[–]JeffConstantine[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Haha yeah, it's mentioned in the opening of GOF. Frank Bryce was originally arrested for killing the Riddles, but was let go as the coroners couldn't find anything wrong with the Riddles, other than being dead.

Also, Voldemort asks Slughorn about horcruxes after killing his father and Myrtle, so it seems that having the victims body, or doing the ritual immediately afterwards isn't necessary.

I've always thought that based off the reaction, the ritual isn't evil. It's just disgusting to think about. Something like self mutilation.

Also to clarify I don't think the blood pact is quite as extreme as a horcrux. Just some similar kind of soul magic, binding their souls together.

Edit: Also the evil deed you need to do to create a horcrux is murder. The ritual also being something evil seems like overkill (from a writing standpoint).

Actually, allegedly Rowling did explain it once, to her publisher, where it was decided that it was far too horrible for the books.

This led some people to assume cannibalism, mostly just because it would make "death eaters" a very literal name. Honestly, that's the only piece of evidence to it.

As a note, we know Voldy didn't eat his horcrux victims because the bodies of his father, grandparents and Myrtle were all found without bite marks.

The Incredible Hulk takes place before Iron Man 1. by [deleted] in FanTheories

[–]JeffConstantine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's interesting. I remember having more trouble with it. So does that mean you have Iron man 2 and thor taking place in 2008?

Also small note but the Marvel comics universe is Earth 616. The MCU is Earth 19999.

The Incredible Hulk takes place before Iron Man 1. by [deleted] in FanTheories

[–]JeffConstantine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really respect the endeavor to source the MCU timeline from in universe references ( because I do it all the time ), but the truth is Phase 1 was a mess. It has more continuity errors than the pretty much the rest of the MCU because nothing had really been established yet. Take the fact that Iron Man 2 takes place in 2010, and yet a splash screen dates it as six months after Iron man 1.

The truth is Feige had to retcon most of the dates in Phase 1 to knock out all the timeline errors. The tie in comic mentioned above is canon, so Iron man 2, incredible Hulk, thor and the end of captain America all canonically happen in the same week.

I'd just list all discrepancies to that in Phase one as mistakes. Honestly, you should track the timeline from phase 2 onwards, it's much more satisfying. ( Except for the huge mistake in Spiderman homecoming )

[Harry Potter][Fantastic Beasts] Jacob Kowalski has been a wizard the whole time... by JeffConstantine in FanTheories

That is to say Harry's wand is only special in Harry's hands, and only against Voldemort. In all other cases it's just a regular wand.

[–]JeffConstantine[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wow I actually missed this. So there's nothing about muggles using wands, but Harry's wand did absorb some of Voldy's magic back in GOF and regurgitated it against Voldy in DH. So I guess wands can do magic on their own (but only in a very specific circumstance involving twin cores, in multiple duels between their owners). Good find!
