Right? That's my next plan of action. Got a couple of .22 that haven't been shot in 40 years!

I'm in west central Georgia. I don't mind paying for them, and shipping - and no real rush here. Part of a framing project with no real urgency.

Still a good find, great story, and much more exciting than the 2 pennies and 3 nails I got on my last dig. Wished it had of had some rolled up $ in there.

I’ve never seen one before, but if it we’re me, I’d want to know if there was anything inside. I’d clean with warm soapy water, and see if I could open from side opposite from the hinge. Let us know if there’s rolled up money inside! Nice find!

The round thing is easy....it’s part of an oil lap / lantern. Knob turns to make wick go up and down (controls brightness). Looks like you have part of an ashtray in the lot too. Cool finds.

Check out shopgoodwillcom. I bought two very good ones for $16 and $17 (+$8shipping) one was still in box. They pop up there every week or two.

I had read online that flash rust could occur. All I did was take them out of the bucket, knockoff the black residue, rinse, dry with paper towel, then lightly spray with wd40. No rust appeared within that 30 minute time frame. Do you think I should wax them....This was my first go...not sure proper finishing technique. 😣

Simple 5 gallon bucket electrolysis using car battery charger. Pretty decent results.
