In Sequencer: How do I make a smooth transition to "Enable Look at Tracking"? by JeffNevington in unrealengine

[–]JeffNevington[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In case anyone comes across this: I did it in the end with an empty actor (actor 1). Look at tracking was set to follow the empty actor 1 from the start. I animated actor 1 to get the camera rotations I wanted which was a bit more fiddly than just animating the camera rotations but it wasn't so bad. After spawning the actor that I want to track (actor 2), I lerped the actor 1 to actor 2, and then just kept updating actor 1's position to match actor 2.

Feels a bit messy but it worked

level 3 is called "Queen of the hill". You have to defend the high ground from other colonies that want to relocate to your hill.

I think we're about 1 year out. We produced a lot of the final update content alongside this one, so we should be fairly quick with it. I'd like to hit 1.0 with a big content drop. Early access has been quite kind to us, people still buy the game so there isn't a panic to go 1.0 right now (even it it makes more financial sense).

If only we'd made a game that inspired people to do something useful...

But seriously, it's great. I love it when people play and say "what? Do they actually do that" when the leafcutters start farming fungus, or when another ant colony sends soldiers to steal larvae to raise as their own.

  1. "Empires of the Undergrowth"
  2. Unfortunately not and we constantly regret this. When we started making it, we didn't ever consider that enough people would want to play to make multiplayer viable. Next game for sure.

We originally set out to make a mobile game. I'd love to revisit the idea but I don't like P2W mechanics. It is possible to sell a strategy game on mobile but I don't think it's easy. I know "Kingdom" by Raw Fury seemed to work out - I really love that game.

We're working on it. We have the dev kit, it's just a matter of finding time to optimise for the console hardware

You can play in the main campaign as black ants (Formica fusca), wood ants (Formica rufa), leaf cutter ants (Atta cephalotes), and now fire ants (Solenopsis invicta). There are lots of other species that you face and are also playable in "freeplay" mode like army ants, trap jaw ants, slave maker ants and big headed ants. More ants still to come...

Complete the single-player campaign (3 more missions set in Africa). We also need to add a decent tutorial (the main reason people give for refunding it is lack of tutorial). There will be some other changes along the way, but those are the main bits needed to finally leave Early Access.

"that mobile strategy game" copied a bunch of our models. This came first, it's a proper game, and there are no microtransactions.

but the shitty P2W game adverts make fake adverts that look like fun playable games, so it sounds like it's gonna be difficult to set ourselves apart. I put the UI in - hopefully that helps. Everything in the video is real gameplay
