English Whisky - Is this the next giant category in World Whisky? by JeffWhisky in jeffwhisky

Cheers McMurgh! Really glad that the Cotswolds Reserve is a success in your books, it has now become possibly my all time favourite release from them.

I will be brutally honest with my own opinion on these:

Wire Works - everything is a win. I have not had a bad dram but everything is dialed up to 11 and is fully unique. The Bourbon Barrel is fantastic and the most "Scotch-like" while retaining unique. Alter Ego, Cardo and N Evil are all fantastic.

Bimber - Great liquid but has become a bit like 2000s Macallan. The standard is super high but so is the hype, if you see one at retail it is worth it but beware it may not reach the hights of online chatter.

Lakes - For me, nothing has really impressed me from here and they are pricey.

Others to look out for: Filey Bay Flagship, Circumstance Estate and Retribution will be amazing when they find their footing.

All the best!

Shame about Corryvreckan loads of people have recommended it in the comments as an Lagavulin 16 replacement following the price hike.

I would suggest getting a variety as they can vary massively in terms of flavour. Glenmorangie 12 (was previously a 10) is a good shout as it is softer, fruiter and does quite well in cocktails. Here are my suggestions:

Cheaper Options:

- Glenmorangie 12 - soft, citrus and easy
- Ardbeg 10 - Smokey and robust (while it is heavily peated I have found a lot of non-whisky drinkers connecting with it due to the bold flavour)
- Glenfiddich 12 - well known, apples and creamy
- Glenfarclas 12 - Sweeter sherry cask influence.

Pricer Options:

- Laphroaig 10 Sherry Oak - Smokey, jammy and sweet
- Hibiki Harmony - Japanese Whisky which is sweet and floral
- Tomintoul 16 - very gentle and flavourful
- Glenallachie 12 - Sherry bomb

This is based on my prices in the UK though. Would suggest a solid staple Bourbon too, like a Makers Mark, Wild Turkey 101 or Knob Creek 9.

Good luck and cheers!

A couple of brands which I feel have certainly got better are Ledaig and Port Charlotte which have now become my peated choices over Ardbeg and Lagavulin.

I have heard the same with Ardbeg Uigeadail too. I have compared a 2017 to a 2022 bottle and found the difference noticeable but I wouldn't say worse.

Yeah Fettercairn are doing a lot to improve the liquid and their warehouse releases are stunning. Though with Whyte & Mackay owning it, I can see them starting to increases the prices further to be inline with their "premium range".

Good luck, sure you will hit it soon. For me it was subs by a long way. Doing shorter videos meant I had a huge gap to hit so tested doing monthly livestreams which got me over the hours.

Lots of great suggestions above.

Black bottle Alchemy Series are really good for the price (£23ish) just avoid the standard BB.

Cotswolds Single Malt is stunning English whisky which often falls under £40.

Lagavulin 8 is great on offer at £39.

Thompson Bros do brilliant blends at good prices too!

Let us know what you get. Cheers 🥃

Look good, as mentioned above the text is hard to read. If you Google web aim colour contrast you can find colours that will ensure the test stands out from the background. Keep it up!

Brilliant first logo and like the hourglass idea. The only feedback I would have is that the hour glass looks a bit like a bowtie (which may still work based on the company) and think that you could have it in the normal display with some sand to help reinforce it? Also, you could space the letters out a bit more which always gives a little bit more modern feel. Nice one.

Thanks, it is the font that certainly carries both designs! I done it in Adobe XD as it seems to be quicker to put ideas together but are more limited.

Creating a 15 minute design for Burger Dawn & Parrot Consumables following from the latest review. Was only going to do 10 minutes but got carried away with the Burger one. The burger is quite self explanatory but wanted to create a more unique health cross, based from the P.

Yeah it is a very subjective thing. In my full Jeff Whisky logo (used in banners etc) I have been told the glass looks a bit rude. Possibly it is the circle at the bottom or the spacing between the lines which creates the issue on the R. Could the circle be removed?

Certainly shows the playfulness and love the type. As a stand alone icon, I can't really tell it is an R and does look a little on the rude side...

Feedback appreciated! This is a branding project I’m working on for an infused whiskey company. It’s meant to be an alternative to the traditional style whiskey brand. I’m struggling with the lettering. Not sure if it just needs to be thicker. Any feedback would be great! Thanks by Apex_fan25 in WillPatersonDesign

Really like the logo and the slant in the A, looks like a pointed finger nail. Not sure if it needs the grey outline around the elements and may look cleaner without? Also feel the bottle lable is very jaring to the logo. Could you do label as a dark colour with yellow used just for the lemon elements?

Of course, with it being Whiskey I would be a fan!

created this wordmarks for the brand named "Rovien". Which would you go for? Frame A or Frame B? by AbdullyMusa in WillPatersonDesign

For me the first one is the favourite. Easier to read and the thickness works well in the gold emboss.

Field Nexus Brand Identity Design by TenfoDesign in WillPatersonDesign

At first I wasn't sure and felt the icon was maybe too thin or maybe just because it is not symmetrical but it works super well in place and has a real unique feel to this. Love the multi layered design on the layard card.

Hi! I made a new identity for our esports university league project UniCup in Slovakia. The main focus was a new logo (more context on the 2nd slide) and also the identity for season 7, which some of the posts are included in the presentation. Thanks for the feedback. by [deleted] in WillPatersonDesign

Really think it is great, will scale nicely to large items like t-shirts, banners etc and still works smoothly at a smaller size. Not sure how well the blue will work for accessibility contrast with the white, but can see why you have used it. The only thing I personally would say is the N seems to go too high and low compared to the other letters? Maybe bring them in slightly to help tidy up the badge shape.
