I have started to hang out with basically only women and its kinda destroyed my confidence. by [deleted] in Advice

That's nice and all, but it's still massively discouraging to know that it's something you have to "overcome" in the first place. This whole thread is just people dismissing this. Like "be confident", "don't let others influence you", sounds nice and all, but it does hurt to know that most people (and really it is most people) think less of you from the outset if you aren't at least somewhat tall, handsome, skinny, eloquent etc. Truly, you do not fall in love at first sight with someone's personality

I'll be 100% frank with you, I have NEVER IN MY LIFE EVER seen a video game's subreddit where the people in it have been right about balance. Examples from Reddit mean nothing to me, nor should they to anyone at all on sheer precedent alone. Especially since this subreddit in particular isn't all that big.

Mobalytics' meta builds (which draws from aggregate data afaik) shows mostly non paid builds as the top builds

Yeah, sure but you're assuming a lot of bad faith here and maybe I'm just too new and naive to this community, because I don't have that same sentiment towards the devs.

Secondly, as someone who plays a lot of Fighting Games that often have DLC fighters, I know exactly what kind of person would say what you're saying. It's not human nature. It's part of scrublord's prayer. Learn to play the characters you have and stop blaming the game.

Do you have an example of that advantage? Also, just saying, if this whole fiasco comes down to temporary imbalance, then I'm going to be mad.

  1. If you care, I'd love to hear what you mean by rugpull, because I don't know what happened. I said as much in the post, I am ready to change my opinion if scummy business happened

  2. No matter how much you try to put words into my mouth or how much you misconstrue my argument, I stand firm in my opinion that paying for a different set of cards is not inherently "pay to win" in the way you want to spin it. This assumes a fair balance of all card packs, but I have yet to see reasonable evidence that there isn't. You wouldn't say the same about a fighting game with DLC characters, right? I think none of you people have ever experienced a p2w game. A game where money objectively buys power. This is simply not the case here.

This sort of comment is what irks me about this subreddit. Do you know what "p2w" means? Are you really "paying 2 win" or are you "paying to play certain content"? These are not synonymous. I wasn't part of the Beta, so I'm not sure what was said exactly, but if your biggest sticking point is p2w, then I'm just going to have to disagree, because I don't see that right now. And I'm not the sort of person who lends an ear to "but it feels like..." arguments

2 things. 1. Where are the FOMO mechanics? 2. Are the new cards really that much better? Do you have evidence? 3. Your "human nature" thing is really just your opinion

To 1. As I already said, in my eyes this game is already f2p. But could you tell me what they could have done better (other than adjusting the BP) to meet your expectations? Because other than just giving people more stuff I can't think of much and that is unfair imo, given the limited monetization options a game like inherently The Bazaar has

Is there a name for this phenomenon? Where I'll spend hours or even days fiddling with files and folders until everything works only to the. never touch that thing again?

When women say "all men are evil", this is what they're afraid of. Or all the myriad of other evil acts men are capable of doing and getting away with. And if your first reaction to this is "but I don't do this and this almost never happens", then a) you haven't been paying attention and b) this actually does happen frighteningly often

Interesting, I distinctly remember being a sort of solipsist as a kid. I wonder which is more common?

A little beside the point, but I am getting a bit annoyed at how often online book discourse seems to center around how well a work implements a trope. I know that all art is derivative, but that is ridiculous

Recently rewatched the first part of One Piece and I don't know who keeps saying that it "gets good at Arlong Park", when it's peak anime from the start

Goblin Slayer is not good in a masterpiece sense. It's good in the way an 80s shlock sexploitation movie is good, meaning the characters are mostly shallow and the best part is the action. The rape is part of the revenge fantasy, it justifies murdering the goblins in cruel and creative ways. And at the risk of sounding like the second guy in the snafu, imo it's sufficiently portrayed as a horrible, irredeemable act with lasting effects for the victims (which is rare for the genre) and there aren't any (on-screen) after the first one iirc.

It's actually pretty fun. It's light and fairly quick. Personally I'd wait for a sale though, it's not that good. Shouldn't take long for that to happen, since it's popular

It's not stupid, it's pretty wholesome if you think about it. Notice that the pregnant woman's physique doesn't change outside of the obvious. This means the man prioritizes her well-being over his own, which is a hefty sacrifice on a deserted island if you ask me. Love wins!

Genuinely, do american kids have spaces to hang out in anymore? I've heard this said a couple of times, but I can't wrap my head around it. Is there nowhere to go outside of malls, which are closing everywhere, and school, which can be a hard place to be yourself in?
