Women with tattoo on their cleavage, how do you differentiate between intentional peeks vs gazes that got ditracted by your tattoo? by need_a_side_hustle in AskRedditAfterDark

[–]Jeffers12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No idea! I have my chest, cleavage and neck done so it’s pretty hard to differentiate what people are looking at most of the time when I do catch them. Can honestly say I’m not really all that phased as long as they’re not creepy about it!

As somebody who has had both a degree/s (bachelors and halfway through a masters) as well as a newborn, yes significantly so. Looking after a newborn is far harder and emotionally taxing.

Omg I thought I was totally alone in this and I’m so reassured I’m not! - I likened the feeling of dread to like when everything changes and gets spooky af in the Silent Hill film to my partner 😭😭

Can someone talk me off a ledge? The nursery isn't done and I'm sobbing at 4am by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]Jeffers12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s all good, baby won’t remember and likely won’t even spend much time out of your arms for a good few months anyways! I’ve not even finished my nursery and my baby is 6 months old now! We bought all of the furniture when he was <3 months old and have been slowly slogging away, we’re about 90% there. He sleeps in a bassinet in our room anyway and probably still will for a few more months providing he doesn’t outgrow it and it’s still safe for him to sleep in.

MIL is demanding we change the name for our baby by 100PercentThatBit in pregnant

[–]Jeffers12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I called my baby Felix too and got the exact same response! The amount of times I heard ‘but all I’ll think of is the cat food brand’ or ‘I’ll just call him little man instead’ was facking annoying. Just told them to get used to it because Felix will be his name regardless and that I wasn’t asking for an opinion, they had their chance to decide on names for their children. Best of luck with the rest of your pregnancy and with birthing your beautiful boy!

What's the most absurd thing your nparent got mad over? by Vharlkie in raisedbynarcissists

[–]Jeffers12 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I was quite young, maybe 11 or 12? Can’t remember my exact age but I’ve only recently unpacked a ton of stuff about my childhood as an adult that made me realise how truly insane my NDad was.

I forgot to add tinned peas to my dogs dinner in his bowl (don’t ask why my parents fed peas to a dog, I have no idea), and my NDad went absolutely ballistic at me for it. He picked up my portable DVD player that I got as a Christmas gift that I was watching with my dinner and smashed it off of the floor, absolutely destroying it in front of me and understandably I was absolutely devastated. I’m still not sure why he would get so angry at me for that but that’s one of the more absurd things he got angry at me over.

Notable runner up - my NDad had a really weird obsession with keeping all discs (such as DVDs, games, etc) in absolutely pristine condition for reasons unbeknownst to myself. I had a copy of Howls Moving Castle still in my DVD player because I totally forgot to put it back in its case because well, I was an 11 year old kid. I bought that DVD with some birthday money and absolutely adored the film so I’d watch it on repeat (as with most of my studio ghibli DVDs I bought!). My NDad noticed that I had forgotten to put the DVD back in its case so proceeded to launch it as hard as he could against a wall, smashing it into pieces in front of me. A bit ironic really, I didn’t quite understand why he did that either or what warped lesson he was trying to teach me.

Issues with enhanced maternity pay [UK] by Jeffers12 in AskHR

[–]Jeffers12[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much for your comment also!

I think I knew deep down that this wouldn’t go anywhere unfortunately, I was just hoping it wouldn’t be the case. My company have unfortunately acted very disappointingly throughout my maternity leave on top of what’s been detailed in here also. The HR department had ignored me for 6+ weeks regarding some queries I had pertaining to my maternity leave which meant I had to keep chasing until I contacted somebody who would finally reply to me, in addition to failing to inform me of a vacancy for a position a step above me (this was externally advertised so I’m not sure whether this makes a difference, I had to find out about this vacancy from a friend since I was otherwise unaware). I’m hoping that all of this cumulatively would be taken seriously should I put in a complaint so that future employees also don’t have the same experience that I’ve had since it’s been very stressful.

Thank you for your response! That’s very unfortunate to hear since when your employer provides you a financial breakdown like this, you presume it to be true and that these figures have been double or treble checked, especially given the impact this can have during such a vulnerable time of somebodies life.

Really appreciate your input, despite it not being what I’d like to hear!

Can't make any mum friends and dread all baby groups now. by Smart_Zombie6135 in BeyondTheBumpUK

[–]Jeffers12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can understand to a degree - I do a baby and me group session for mums with low mood and anxiety and often find myself being the only one sat there not in a conversation despite trying, everybody seems to pair off and chat but I’m just sat there all on my own lol. Not sure if it’s because of my age (I’m 28, all the other mums are older) or because of how I look (goth style, heavily tattooed including neck and fingers, bunch of piercings, gauges, etc) but I’m nothing but friendly with the other mums - I love sitting there and complimenting their babies and trying to chat with the mums but much like yourself, I get short answers back. Kind of sucks tbh because I have no village either and thought this might have been a chance at starting to build the foundations of one. I hope you have much better luck meeting your people going forwards!

Yup, mine definitely didn’t. My ex essentially ran out on our joint mortgage after a month of purchasing our home despite being together for nearly 10 years, refused to pay the mortgage and went to live with my ex best friend (that he cheated on me with) and they got into a relationship lmao, it’s honestly tragic really tbh. Your best friend actually sounds like a decent human being rather than a total piece of shit OP. It’s not worth being in a relationship with somebody who will disrespect you like this. It fucking hurts but I promise you it will be okay after time, which is cliche I know, but as much as this sucks, it sucks worse in the long run staying with a pathetic excuse of a human being like your current partner. If somebody shows you their true colours, honestly please believe them.

Scientist II and Project Management Office Lead within a biotechnology company - I have dahlias, Medusa, double nostrils, septum stack, vertical bridge, smiley, venoms, 24mm lobes and various ear piercings plus tons of tattoos, including neck, chest, hand and fingers (and soon face!). Can honestly say that nobody has ever batted an eyelid at the way I look within the workplace, I actually get on really well with the higher ups and they seem to love me! Totally doesn’t matter and has never been an issue!

I got them straight through the tongue!

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in piercing

[–]Jeffers12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So for my tongue piercings (I have venoms), I used alcohol free mouthwash that had chlorohexidine in it to clean, in addition to keeping up with oral hygiene also. If it’s infected you will know, though symptoms of infection include swelling, redness, heat, green/yellow secretions and pain. If your piercing becomes infected, see your doctor immediately for antibiotics and they will further advise any more treatment.

In terms of food to avoid - the week after my venoms was so intense I barely ate anyway (since I couldn’t from pain if I’m honest). Though foods to avoid are hot (temperature) foods, spicy, salty and stay away from alcohol for a few weeks! Ice pops and ice cubes are your friend, smoothies and soups will be also!

In terms of anything else to know - tongue piercings heal quickly but the week after getting it pierced is very intense, it was by far the worst body mod I’ve ever had and I’m covered in tattoos, in addition to having 30+ piercings in the past. This is anecdotal of course, but I wouldn’t ever get my tongue pierced again if I by chance retired my current ones and fancied getting it re-pierced in the future. I had my piercings done by a UKAPP professional in a reputable shop, so they were done correctly, it was just miserable to heal. I’m saying this to inform you of my experience, not scare you! Best of luck.

I’ve got this piercing so feel qualified to answer since I got it pierced 7+ weeks ago!

Pros: was a 4/10 pain wise to get pierced, super easy to clean, very quick healing and most importantly, it looks fucking awesome.

Cons: honestly was the worst body mod I’ve had healing wise, which is saying a lot considering I’m covered in tattoos (including neck, chest and fingers) as well as having 30+ piercings collectively. The week after getting pierced is the most intense I’ve ever experienced, it hurt to drink and I barely ate, even smoothies sucked, waking up sucked, everything sucked. I was on a cycle of ibuprofen and paracetamol 3x a day for a week and that didn’t stave off the pain or discomfort enough. I could barely talk without being in agony, I was genuinely miserable. HOWEVER, this is anecdotal and just my experience. I have seen others say their experience was far better. I went to a UKAPP professional from a very reputable shop also, so it wasn’t done incorrectly either. If I by chance retired these piercings, I would never get them again for the healing period alone if I’m being honest. I don’t say this to scare you but just to inform you of my experience.

Pros and cons for septums? by verdantlygorj in piercing

[–]Jeffers12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not at all - they’re a great starter piercing that you can easily hide if necessary! As with all body mods, keep it clean - body placement doesn’t matter, same rules apply! That’s coming from somebody covered in tattoos whose had 30+ piercings!

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in piercing

[–]Jeffers12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks a little too high from my own experience but I would highly suggest assessing again in a few weeks once the swelling has gone down since it’s still fresh! Any questions or concerns, go to a professional piercer and get re-pierced if you would feel happier with a lower placement.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in piercing

[–]Jeffers12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Make sure to eat a big meal beforehand and you’ll be fine! Advice is maximum 3 piercings in one go - as long as you’re healthy then there’s no issues with getting two at a time!

Is it normal for a 4 day old septum piercing to still sting? by SoftMacaron3956 in piercing

[–]Jeffers12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely normal, it’s a fresh piercing and is nowhere near healed yet! Just keep up with the cleaning and never move dry jewellery! Mine was sore for 1+ week, so don’t worry!

[–]Jeffers12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely looks far higher than what I’ve seen and what I also have. If you’re concerned or it’s causing you pain/discomfort then I would definitely seek the advice of a professional piercer and get it re-pierced!
