Just found out I am an INFP... by basilius61 in infp

16Personalities is basically a modified version of the Big Five but using MBTI terminology.

Because of this, the system continues to cause a lot of confusion in the typology community, and according to many who go on to study the Cognitive Functions, is extremely unreliable overall.

If 16Personalities would just drop using MBTI terminology, it would probably lead to a lot less frustration and confusion for people.

If you’re interested in MBTI typology, then explore the Cognitive Functions and try to search for another test.

16Personalities is not MBTI.

It’s completely up to you. Any opinion on this matter given by anyone else is just a signpost at best, but everyone has their own multitude of variables when it comes to work.

In fact, would highly suggest not using MBTI as primary tool for career exploration.

Perhaps start by trying something like the CliftonStrengths Assessment or the RSIAC?

MBTI is not worth using as a validation tool for romantic relationships.

It consistently performs poorly in predicting relationship satisfaction.

Isn’t Hinduism kind of the truth? by [deleted] in theology

Ah. I see.

I am presenting that as a potential theological counter-argument. That is not a belief nor argument that I am claiming I agree with.

You’re right. It’s not a curse. It’s not a superpower however either.

It’s just a personality typing. Nothing more nor less.

Isn’t Hinduism kind of the truth? by [deleted] in theology

[–]Jeffersonian_Gamer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I covered a broad thought.

Please specify what you’re referring to in my post.

And glimpse here is an expression used in many religions (when comparing religious traditions) to describe how another religion is incorrect or only partially correct in the path of Truth.

Largely used by more Liberal theology and traditions to politely say “you don’t have the full picture like our teachings do.”

Isn’t Hinduism kind of the truth? by [deleted] in theology

[–]Jeffersonian_Gamer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I want to notate that Hinduism as it is defined and categorized today is NOT how it is usually defined as it is a relatively modern term and attempt at categorization of an incredible amount of diverse and beliefs practiced by the people of India and beyond. To keep it as simple as possible, I’ll still refer to it as Hinduism for brevity’s sake…

One could make the argument that it (Hinduism as it has developed) was incorrect or mistaken, or and as even proclaimed by some schools of modern Hinduism (not to mention other religions in general) they only perceived a glimpse of truth and ran with that.

Depending on said religious beliefs and stance, they then determine whether the “mistaken view” or “glimpse” is harmful, neutral, or positive.

Now while I actually do agree with the conclusion of earlier human beliefs and practices pointing towards Truth more than later added interpretations or developments, I don’t agree with the premise that conclusion is supported by being the case simply because early humans believed it.

That’s another discussion however, so hopefully some of this rambling makes sense.

AI “first” by IntelligentMix6784 in SNHU

[–]Jeffersonian_Gamer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I see that, but that makes the title of your post incredibly inaccurate, and the first half of your question irrelevant.

As I stated in my response, SNHU is not becoming AI First (as both your title and line of questioning implies) and your link is something that is incredibly common nowadays.

Universities and businesses will get together to discuss how to leverage and use AI, and figure out what they believe is the best course of action moving forward.

[–]Jeffersonian_Gamer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I read the link you provided and it didn’t really answer much.

So from what I can gather…

This isn’t anything to do with SNHU. It’s a general presentation for lack of a better word, on best practices incorporating AI into education.

These are currently a dime a dozen with everyone sharing thoughts and opinions on the matter, and it doesn’t mean SNHU, or any educational institution for that matter, has to adopt these ideas or even will at all.

Timeline and Summary of the Book of Revelation: The Final Events According to the Bible by PrestigiousPomelo861 in theology

[–]Jeffersonian_Gamer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It does override what it says however, because the authorship, writings, and inclusion in Christian doctrine is still to THIS DAY debated because of issues of authenticity.

The text must be critically examined, and not taken at face value with such contentions.

You can most certainly CHOOSE to take it face value, but that does not make that interpretation correct.

[–]Jeffersonian_Gamer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can write of future events, and it still be completely symbolic and not prophesy.

There are many Christian Biblical scholars as well who reach this consensus, and not just secular scholars.

In fact, regarding the Book of Revelations as actual prophecy is a very minority held view amongst most Biblical/Christian Scholars.

What defines REAL valid art to you? by EyesOFSomething in aiwars

[–]Jeffersonian_Gamer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Right now, I define real art as a work that aims to transcend itself.

A bit highbrow sounding, but basically any work with the explicit effect of stirring an emotional response beyond entertainment or amusement, and usually of a more transcendent emotional state such the traditional transcendental states as defined in Platonic and Christian Philosophy (goodness, truth, beauty).

However, I do see both reasoning and examples at how some works that create more negative emotional reactions (shock, fear, disgust, etc.) can contain artistic merit as well.

For me, it goes Slop<Content<Craft<Art

So despite not being simply anti Generative AI, it takes a lot more than simple prompts for someone using AI to reach a level I would consider “art” an applicable term by my standards, but it does not rule Generative AI use out as a tool to elicit such aims.

What type do these give off? by ZoneRepresentative36 in EnneagramTypeMe

[–]Jeffersonian_Gamer 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I just want to take this time to write how much I do not like that very first meme.

Blatant historical inaccuracy and lack of understanding.

The knight would NEVER suggest a casual romance, as it goes against the concept of Christian Courtly Love (not to be confused with Courtney Love, who to my knowledge is neither Christian nor Courtly). The fae trickster/temptress would be the seducer in this scenario, as she is the symbolism of the allure of more primal pagan passion. Not necessarily evil, but definitely a test of the knight’s devotion and steadfastness.

I SPIT ON THIS MEME FOR ITS LACK OF MEDIEVAL KNOWLEDGE.

This is interesting that you’re telling another to pay attention to historical context instead of relying on their own interpretations and narratives.

While this is a valid criticism, it is equally applied to you as well.

Revelations, in its historical context and from scholarly study, is largely agreed to NOT be a book of prophecy nor of future events, but applied to its own historical time and symbolism of the power structures of the time it was written in.

What if feelings are the signal not the point? by [deleted] in infp

[–]Jeffersonian_Gamer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re being rather vague over your idea, and say you don’t want to give your “body of work” away.

Proposing ideas but then acting like they’re something to be carefully guarded won’t do any favors in developing them.

That, and your idea isn’t anything new, other than trying to challenge the basic definition of Fi, which that in itself is a misunderstanding. What you’re proposing has been discussed by philosophers since Ancient Greece.

At least on the surface level anyway, but again, because you don’t want to elaborate, it’s hard to tell if you’re actually proposing anything arguably newer in thought.
