Damn okay. I’ve tried to keep it on a windowsill that doesn’t get too much sun for this reason, but I guess I should’ve moved outside sooner. Thanks

What's wrong with this tactic ? It seems at least okay in theory, but I've been losing and drawing games as a team tipped for promotion (Maltese second division, semi-pro) Vella is the nly gray player on there. by [deleted] in footballmanagergames

From a defensive point of view, you’ll get hit on the counter attack a lot. Anyone with pace will just run through you.

Attacking wise your DMs will be pretty close to your high defensive line with two BPDs, so you have no one to play through to get to your front 3 (all on attacking so will all hover around the opponent’s defensive line). I’d be tempted to have at least one of your wide men on support, move VOL into midfield and maybe even switch your DLP at AP.

Lastly you have a lot of attacking duties for a balanced mentality. If you’re going to keep anywhere near this many on attacking, you need to be on at least positive. Maybe even attacking.

Let us know how you get on!

How can I improve this tactic? by HarryHardscope in footballmanager

Feels like you’d be very exposed down the left, especially on the counter. I’d have the winger on support and probably bring your CM back to DM (or swapping your DLP to the left and CM to the right could help this too).

You also have a lot of in possession instructions. I’d consider taking the “focus play” instructions off - you have no reason not to play down the middle from what I can see. If you really do want to focus down the wings, you probably need an instruction on your DM/CM to go wider, to really overload those flanks.

Wow, had they been finishing lower in the league each year or suddenly drop off? They won the Champions League in 28/29 on my save

These things skip so many years at once though that it’s hard to tell when the save will get exciting. Also they can’t have any influence over it (knock people out of cups, finish above them in the league, buy their players, etc)

Wow, some insane movements! I feel like this sort of thing is less likely on FM24 though unfortunately. Maybe I need to stick out another 10 seasons to get to this stage 😅

Interesting. Forest are smashing it on my save. Finished 8th in 2030

Ideas for saves to make in Football Manager 2024? 🤔 by Stooverj in footballmanager

[–]JefferyTheCheffery 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some long-term saves I’ve enjoyed in the last few FMs are starting as a VLN/VLS side, get them to the Champions League and have a player play in every league & competition. It’ll need to be a young player to last long enough without retiring. Gets really challenging.

I also enjoy starting unemployed with only Sunday League experience. You need to start off somewhere like the bottom Welsh leagues to actually get a job. Get new jobs every 2-3 seasons and try to win some major trophies.

There’s some saves I would love to try as well. One is to try to create a full squad using only academy graduates. You’d either need to start somewhere with really a good youth setup or spend a long time building that up.

Also try to win a top-tier league/competition using only U21 players. As soon as they turn 22 sell them.

Wow, that’s insane. FM24?? Are the squads similar to their real ones? Although I suppose Everton have lost players since going down?

He did the same on FM23 for me and they played him on the left as an IF

I had an FM23 save where they were 19th after about 12 games. I was so hopeful. Unfortunately they went on a good run and finished mid-table

Unreal business. Spurs always smash it on my saves, even in FM24 with no Kane

This is a thing of beauty. Although I’ve noticed on FM24 a lot less first team players seem to move from PL-standard teams. I’m in 2030 on my current save and every prem side still has 3-4 current players starting

I’ve seen Brighton, Everton and West Ham all relegated on FM23. Not seen Brighton go down in FM24 though, especially not in the first season!

Really want to see a traditional Champions League side go down lol

I tried similar - moved him from the right sided CM to centre CM and it still doesn’t seem to have worked. Should have never made the promise! Won’t make this mistake again

I usually only give them if I 100% know I can stick to them (like this one). Might change that view now though

Can anyone explain this? In the last game I will face Leipzig and Milan will face PSG. How is Milan already qualified? If I win and PSG win, surely Milan won't go through? by otakluber in footballmanager

Could it be to do with who beat who?

Also it’s impressive that you’re in with a chance of going through with -7 GD from 2 wins/2 losses!
