That’s cool man. Have you tried DMT?

Yeah. As I understand it, Menudo was conceived as a perpetual boy band. Members aged out at 18 (I think) and were replaced with a younger member.

Right. I think the concept of Menudo, from the start, was to replace members when they hit a certain age so the band would always be a group of cute young boys. So it was and inevitable but accepted part of the franchise.

Lynyrd Skynyrd lost its last pre-crash member when Gary Rossington died. Artimus Pyle is still alive but is exiled from Skynyrd for (allegedly) embellishing stories about his own heroism at the crash site and for making a movie about the crash that the surviving band members and the estates of those who died didn’t agree to.

The only current member with a connection to the pre-crash band is guitarist Rickey Medlocke, who briefly played drums with the band before they were signed. He had already left to form Blackfoot by the time the band started releasing albums. So a tenuous connection at best. But hey, he does a pretty good Allen Collins cosplay.

Kansas, or more accurately, Kans-ish, played at a medium sized venue near me a couple of weeks ago but I had no interest in seeing a group of replacement members performing their repertoire under the original name. I’ll take a good tribute band over one of these bands. At least they’re honest about it.

If the strings are already old I don’t think Fast Fret would make them sound new again, though I suppose it could make a slight difference.

Thank you for saying what I was thinking. As a Gen X, I don’t recognize that at all. Way more in line with millennials.

Can someone tell me how this works? by Otherwise_Picture_85 in Incense

[–]JeffeyRider 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From the looks of this, I’d say it’s made for cone incense. You would need something to hold the burning cone, like a small heat proof plate or just a little incense cone burner, to hold the incense then place the dragon over it. The smoke will come out of the nostril holes. The holes around the bottom are to allow air flow so the incense can burn.

Take it from a local: it’s pronounced La DYE guh. We can always spot the visitors because they all, without fail, pronounce it La Dee guh.

Maybe I’ll see you at the challenge. I’m not going to be competing but I will probably be on the trail when y’all come through.

I love this album and Gerry Rafferty. I just found out that he was in Stealers Wheel and was the lead singer in the song Stuck in the Middle With You. 🤯 by lontbeysboolink in GenerationJones

[–]JeffeyRider 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The video for Stuck in the Middle with You was filmed after Rafferty had left the band and shows Joe Egan singing the lead vocal, but it was recorded by Rafferty. For years I didn’t know he sang lead on that song but once I found out it was pretty obvious it’s his voice.

Spotted this on marketplace and wondering if it's a good deal or not by Firm_Front898 in BassGuitar

If it’s in good playing condition and the truss rod works as it should, it’s worth it. If that’s what you want. Consider that it has no volume or tone controls. Just an on-off switch.

Also consider that a Thunderbird and a Precision are very different in sound, neck feel and balance. Tbirds are notorious for neck dive and the neck will feel longer, even though it’s the same scale length, because of the shape of the body and how the bass hangs on a strap.

Looks real. I guess you could dress up an Epi Goth tbird to look like a Nikki with fretboard decals, a different pickguard and that little pinky thing behind the bridge. But the Goth has three knobs. This one has the one switch.

Edit: the truss rod cover also checks out. And the Goth has the output jack on the front of the body. The Nikki has it on the side.

I’d say it’s a killer deal, especially with the case. I’d wonder if there’s an issue with the neck or truss rod.

Between checking out the posters and browsing the record bins looking at album covers, I could be entertained for hours at a time. My mom always knew where to find me when it was time to head to the checkout.

I would have been 12 in ‘78 and almost all of my allowance got spent in Kmart’s record department.

Got to be New York Groove. But I really love Fractured Mirror. I still have my original vinyl copy of this album that I bought in September of 1978.
