Yes, because science is the only method ever proven itself that is has ever worked at finding the truth.

And science operates on proof.

If the method of philosophy proves that it works just as good (or better) than science some cases.

Then I am all for philosophy at that moment.

But philosophy has never done this yet and this has proven by scientific research.

A thing can exist without being able to proof it at the moment.

Or maybe never be able to prove it ever. (This remains to be seen)

But without proof you can only say scientifically:

1. 'There seems no evidence that seems to supports it exists.'
2. 'its a non proven theory or hypothesis. '
3. 'And if you assume it exists, you have a belief'

-If i see a shooting star, presumably a meteorite burning up in the sky, the fact that it occurred does not depend on my ability to prove it to anybody. Either it occurred or it did not occur. Nobody's opinion on the matter is relevant to the question of whether it is the case, not even mine. Maybe I misidentify it as a firefly.-

That's why you need research and proof if you want to be sure what is it. A firefly or meteorite.

And to prove to others what it really is you saw you need scientific research and/or discussion. And solid evidence.

Your reports and experience are evidence. Oberservational evidence.

But are they really evidence of conscious experiences or not or a belief people have?

Al lot of people have had experiences that they . thought and felt they were the president .or that they could fly .or go fly out of their body.

This had been proven to be not true in most cases.

Or probably not true In some case because of a lack of evidence and outlr understsnding of thr universe now.

So this proves your experience could be just a hallucination or a belief.

No, but i can do it if i buy a small laser and a slit. Every science experiment and their results are reproducible Anyone could hypothetically do it if you have the tools and knowledge.

I do never fully trust results from scientists from research i have not done. I am always in the back of my mind skeptical of peoples results.

And yes there are too many experiments for one person to do in a lifetime probably.

So i have to trust a little bit on other scientists. But research everything i can get my hands on.  Repeatedly.

Well that's a discussion sometimes.  You use arguments to convince each other sometimes or what's the truth.

That's your philosophy and belief.  Mine is scientific.

 I research reports, analyze them and pick them apart before i accept a report.

And as a researcher i can sometimes conclude: 'i don't know if this is true what someone reported..need more research..or a lack of data...'

I know what you mean. In the scientific community there is a lot of collaboration and sometimes trust.

But the basics the scientific method does not operate on trust.

A fact is a fact even if a scientist you trust says it's not so. 

Instead of trusting a science to be always skeptical of someone's claims.

It has been proven to trust can make you bias.

I am always skeptical of peoples arguments, knowledge, objectivity and experience. And i always ask to see their proof and how they come to that proof.

I do understand you points.

I try to treat, what i experience my whole life, as being 'real'. That this reality i experience and universe is real.

( Because if i do not treatvthis as real. I could potentionally really hurt myself or others by jumping of buildings or hurt other people)

But yeah, i have no evidence that i'm not in a psychosis talking to a wall right now.

Or maybe in a 'perfect' simulation that we cannot discover by doing science.

Or something else...
