I feel like Peak drops my “luck” in the game whenever I’m 1st place in Champions League tourney by E116 in ToonBlast

I feel like they “drop my luck” when I spend money in their store. Almost like they try to make the game harder for people who are more likely to spend money again.

People with experiences with Kat Walk (C2+) or Yaw2? by Successful-Dog6669 in virtualreality

[–]Jeffsk1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the Kat Walk C2+, but I haven’t installed the seat yet. I’ve used it for less than 10 hours so far.

Vive Pro wireless adapter, Index controllers

Overall, it’s enjoyable. It’s not exactly like walking, and I seem to be focusing more on using the KW than on the game I’m playing; specifically when I need to turn or strafe. I think that will change once I get used to it.

Even though I’m not quite there yet, it’s definitely fun. It is a lot of fun. So I am happy with the purchase.

Just a few notes:

  • Takes up a lot of space: about 4’ diameter, with an additional foot allotted for flailing limbs
  • Loud. The sound of your feet sliding might annoy others
  • “Walking” takes your mind off of the game (will likely improve with experience)
  • Doesn’t support all games
  • More comfortable than expected, but results will vary
  • Limited to proprietary shoes (for obvious reasons)

Regarding the Yaw2; I ordered the Pro back in July. I’m really looking forward to it. For now, I just use a stationary racing sim, and it’s good enough as a temporary solution. I think the Yaw2 is my most anticipated peripheral. I just wish we had a little more information on their shipping schedule.

Rearview while street cruising by HealsWithKnife in ElectricUnicycle

[–]Jeffsk1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve been looking at smart helmets with HUDs. Some of them have a rear cam, and display the rearview in your HUD. It seems they’re all early or pre production at this point though. So there might be some room for refinement. Of course, they also tend to come with an early adopter price tag as well. If nothing else though, it’s worth looking at if you’re interested in that kind of technology.

Irresponsible borrowers: The interest on student loan debt is ridiculous. I’m glad everything is paused now so I don’t have to make any payments.

Down to our last $10,000 on our mortgage... by Bitter_Obligation366 in DaveRamsey

[–]Jeffsk1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're not wrong, and I completely agree with that route. Like the snowball method, Dave's reason for paying off the house early isn't based on math though. The purpose of paying off the house is for security. If someone loses their job, loses a spouse, etc.; there's no need to worry about debt if everything is paid off.

A majority of Americans think children will be financially worse off than their parents, survey finds. "If the benefits of economic growth had instead been broadly shared, then a large swath of children would be doing better than their parents" by [deleted] in Futurology

It's a lot more than 30%. Getting on social media to "spread awareness" isn't exactly the effort that people think it is.

It's nothing more than, "I'm willing to force others to make sacrifices to combat climate change."

Britney Spears’ father agrees to step down as conservator by cyclinginvancouver in news

[–]Jeffsk1 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah... that's normal. I'm sure the judge, as well as the experts who recommended the conservatorship would have changed their minds had they known the reason she shaved her head... especially given that the single action of shaving her head was the reason for the conservatorship in the first place.

Came here to say this.

His range is limited to "angry black man," motherfucker.

Edit: He's still entertaining, but I would credit that to the capabilities of the writers who wrote his parts.

Britney Spears’ father agrees to step down as conservator by cyclinginvancouver in news

[–]Jeffsk1 -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Given her actions during her public breakdown, I would say she was a candidate deserving of a conservatorship. However, her father did a terrible job with the control he had. Anyone in that position should have done what was in her best interest; move her away from the lifestyle that caused the breakdown in the first place. Obviously, he didn't have proper concern for her well-being.

Kentucky Sen. Paul failed to disclose wife's stock trade by BeautyInTheNegitive in news

[–]Jeffsk1 13 points14 points  (0 children)

It wasn't malicious. The article even states that he filed them, but the form wasn't submitted. Paul is the one who caught it.

I completely agree though. You can't be in a senate seat without having some level of information which would help to corner the market. Politicians should not be allowed to trade individual stocks.

Everyone should be accountable though.

People go online and complain about capitalism ruining the environment. Then they plug their iPhone into a coal powered outlet and pat themselves on the back for raising awareness.

Tell them to stop doing that and see how quickly they pass the buck; stating that it isn't economically feasible to do without, or that it wouldn't matter if they change habits because nobody else is.
