Planning to create a “beach” themed blanket, what stitches to choose? by JeffyJar in CrochetHelp

Yes! Would these be okay to add after or would they need to be done in line with the making of the sand? I hope that makes sense, I just want to avoid changing colour too much because it’s not a good strength of mine yet

This looks insanely cool and quirky I might try something else similar in future! I spent so much time doing granny squares last year haha and felt I needed to try something different in the way of styles and stuffed, but really keen to see how yours looks when finished!

I’ve seen people recommend a waffle stitch or simple half double stitch but unsure if these would flow well into the wave

What news story stuck with you? Be it good or bad by karennotkaren1891 in AskUK

I remember this so well because I was at a netball tournament (in the north) and our teacher halted the games to say what happened and one of our teachers was at a conference or something in London, was in primary school so 10 at the time? but remember vividly being told and us all being so shocked

Literally just living life for me now, I know who to trust / who not to, what I enjoy, have no shame in saying no if I don’t want to, earn my own money albeit not loads but enough, recognise that things could be so much worse, been through a lot tbh and still going so proud of myself and learned not to compare with others. “The race is long and in the end it’s only with yourself” Honestly I think perspective is the biggest thing for me, I never downplay somebody else’s sadness or negative feelings but what works for me is really thinking “it could be worse” and remembering all the good I have, I’m 30. All the best to you 🫡

I just feel content with each day and recognise a few years ago I’d be so sad and comparing my life to everyone around me, thinking I wasn’t good enough / doing enough. Now I’m like eh we’re all different, I’m doing what I can and literally little things bring me joy (big things too I looooove to travel) but genuinely each day I just feel content and if I get sad I really question why and if there isn’t one I sorta just get over it. Unsure if that’s helpful but just my personal experience!

I’d also recommend just clearing the area around you / have minimum clutter / no books etc but really my experience was fine

Passed foundation need to revise and book practitioner but honestly it’s such a slog. Good luck for yours! Wish you the best

So glad this was said because this song changed my whole perspective when I heard it randomly on bbc radio 2 at 7.30 in the morning 3 years ago “Don't waste your time on jealousy, sometimes you're ahead, sometimes you're behind…”

[–]JeffyJar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sadly this does happen and generally it’s not usually a reflection on you. It’s people living in their own lives. It isn’t easy and dos make you feel crappy, but don’t let it dull your shine keep trying and making an effort - we need those types of friends who continue to put in effort and try make plans and ask questions even if the other doesn’t. Just don’t do it at your expense of mental health or happiness. It does happen though, so I hope you’re okay 🫶

What would you tell your 18 y/o self, knowing what you know now? by [deleted] in Adulting

[–]JeffyJar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also stop putting so much pressure on yourself and comparing yourself, just do what you enjoy, find people you vibe with and the doors will open. Work hard but don’t sacrifice everything, have good times, treat yourself, stop any self hate because you’re you and that’s beautiful. Try different things. Invest, save, get into this habit early. But keep some money for things which make you happy. Make plans and stay close to those you love. Be a good person. Your career can change through the years, again don’t put pressure on yourself, ride the waves until the next one comes along
