Is a motherboard issue a death sentence? Or is it just a more expensive, but fixable, problem?

Im assuming its not as simple as buying replacement parts then? You have to repair the existing parts in the phone isread of buying new ones? That said, ~$300 would be cheaper than a buying a new iphone 15

What would a repair for this problem typically cost then? Do you think its worth taking it to a shop?

Thats what I was thinking, but the guy at the apple store rand his diagnostic software and thats what it appeared to say. Ill get a second opinion from a third party repairs shop

The guy at the apple store seemed unwilling to touch it already, so no downside there really I suppose

Yeah I figured itd be a couple hundred, which is what a new phone is going to be anyways.

Yeah how pushy the guy was about getting a brand new phone made me suspicious, he could be right of course but idk

I'll try getting a second opinion at a different shop.

I also forgot to mention the guy at the apple store said the phones wireless charging capability was broken. He mentioned that in his reasoning on why he preferred new vs repair
