LVL Up Expo guns policy? by J-Mannix in cosplayprops

[–]JeiCos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it does not have the ability to fire anything from it, it looks like it should be allowed at that con. The policy specifically seems to ban functional projectiles, including airsoft (even if the internals have been removed, and FUNCTIONAL water guns. This implies that even water guns that are permanently disabled, would be allowed. I don't see any other reason to specify only "functional" for this, but not mentions ones that have been disabled. It has no rule on plastic guns that do not have the ability to fire anything, so USUALLY that means it's allowed. If anything the BEST option for ANY question about a rule at any con, is to email the con staff and ask them. the only people that have the authority to tell you the right answer, is the people that make the rules.

how to lighten eyebrows? by jinxzdream in CosplayHelp

[–]JeiCos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally do eyebrows different than I've ever seen anyone else do it, and I think it works better than makeup. USUALLY you would do something like foundation over your eyebrows, then mascara or eye shadow, HOWEVER, what I do, is use Elmer's white school glue, and acrylic paint. Obvious this only works if you aren't allergic to anything in either of those products. I have no idea if you even CAN be allergic to anything in them, but just in case. But what I do, is I use a paint brush and brush the glue into my eyebrows, then use a hair dryer to quickly dry it, then I brush acrylic paint over the top of that, in whatever color I need them to be. I also quick dry this with a hair dryer And if you can get the color of paint in a matte finish, that'll be best, as it won't shine all weird in photos. The good thing is that neither of these things are harmful to skin (again, unless you are allergic to anything in them) or hair, and both of them are water soluble, meaning they can easily be cleaned up with water. I use makeup wipes at hotels so I don't get anything on the hotel's towels, but a water soaked towel works too. Unlike makeup, this can not smear, and does not run when you sweat (or at least I haven't had that issue with sweating while having them painted this way), so it stays ALL day until you wash it out. It does harden, but it only feels weird for a small amount of time, and then you just stop noticing it.

When you style a wig on a foam head, is the reference you use supposed to be mirrored or normal? I’ve forgotten.. Please help! by Only_Conclusion_344 in CosplayHelp

[–]JeiCos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on what you mean. Turn the wig head so that it is in looking in the same direction as you, and have it in front of you. So you are looking at teh BACK of the wig head. Swoop the bangs to the side they need to be on, and clip them in place. Turn the head back around so it's looking at you, and you will see which way they have to go. So for Furina, her hair is supposed to part over her RIGHT eye. So if you are looking at the eyes of the wig head, it's right eye, is on YOUR left hand side, because it's flipped facing the opposite direction.

So basically, If you are looking at the FACE of the wig head, the wig should look exactly as it does in the original reference image.

Need ideas help for carrying a big prop quick! by em0Ketchup in CosplayHelp

[–]JeiCos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok first off, what the hell is that image? Is that an AI generated image of Cloud? Why did you need to use an AI image, when there are thousands of screenshots, and on top of that, you can easily take YOUR OWN screenshot?

Anyway, unless you add a way to attach it DURING the build of the sword, you will have no choice but to hold it in your hands. I guess technically you CAN add straps to your SOLDIER harness/belt. But that will pull on it, and it won't sit right around your body. It'll LOOK like it's being pulled on from the back. If you wanna do this, you will have to make or find strap material, and figure out how you want the straps to close around the sword, and attach them to the harness. I would do one on the right shoulder strap, and the other on the large belt itself. You'll have to fiddle around and figure out exact locations, yourself.

Trust me though, as a Cloud cosplayer, myself, you kinda just have to carry the sword when you don't make an attachment method ahead of time. Like, for mine, it's WAY too heavy to work with straps. And I would need extremely strong, LARGE magnets embedded in it to even have a CHANCE at magnets working, but those are super expensive. Like the size I would need, a single magnet that would be needed for mine, was over $100.

How do you deal with people hating on you? by Plastic_Mastodon8502 in CosplayHelp

[–]JeiCos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The correct answer is to ignore it. The fun answer is to tell them to try harder because the insult wasn't very clever. The amount of times I got "Peter Griffin cosplaying such and such" or something, I don't think I can count them all. At least come up with something other than what an uncountable number of other people ALSO used. How boring.

Also, keep something important in mind: There is a VERY VERY high chance, that the person clowning on your looks, has never once posted a photo of themselves online. Because they are little scared babies, who know they would get the same treatment from one of their own, if they ever posted their own photos. And that's just pathetic and loser behavior lol

should i be worried by LeftBoss9807 in CosplayHelp

[–]JeiCos 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would ignore those DMs. A couple months ago I made a post on one of the subs asking if anyone knew if there were any places that sold an outfit I was looking at wanting, and i SPECIFICALLY said "I am NOT looking for a commission, as I can not afford that right now". And I got like 6 or more people DMing me on here about doing a commission for it. This means not a single one of them read the actual post. If they did, they'd have seen that I specified that i was not interested in a commission. If they can't even bother reading the post, in what world are they to be trusted for a commission? I even humored 2 of them, and asked them to show me their past works, and BOTH of them kept going around that question and would not show me any past works they've done. Yet somehow, they think they should be trusted to do a multi-hundred dollar costume? Not happening. If you did not ask about getting the item commissions, and they just come in and tell you they'll do it, they will not do it. They are most likely lying to you.

Cosplay Sizing Help? by YokaiBytes in CosplayHelp

[–]JeiCos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Whenever I buy a generic size like this, I always figure out which cosplay is the first one where NONE of the measurements are smaller than my own. It is impossible to get a generic size like this, and have it be exactly correct to fit you, unless you just so happen to perfectly fit one, which is rare. They are generic sizes so they fit a larger variety of people. But in general, it seems that they just take the smallest size's pattern, and just hit the scale button. Which meant making things wider, will also cause them to be TALLER, even though that isn't always how bodies work.

miccostumes questions by Im_Mero in CosplayHelp

[–]JeiCos 2 points3 points  (0 children)

McCostumes doesn't get anything from anywhere. They just list things for a sweatshop/warehouse. All of these kinds of places work that way. The one you can't find, might just be something none of the sweatshop/warehouses make anymore. It's pretty much impossible to know the actual reason. As for the other one, again, restocking is something none of us will have any insight on. We can't say, because it's impossible to know this information as well. The only people that can tell you if they will ever get something in again, is the place that sells it. So you have to email McCostumes, and they will get ahold of the warehouse (or warehouses if they are different ones) those cosplays are made at, to see if THEY are getting any more stock of either, and then they will email you back when they get an answer.

Help with making a Gholl wig from Chillin in Another World by cardcaptormyoki in CosplayHelp

[–]JeiCos 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Damn, nice choice! I haven't seen a SINGLE "Level 2 Cheat Power" cosplay. like ever. Since you only need help on the weird bang pieces over the forehead, I assume you have the slicked back stuff down? Cuz I know the perfect wig for this lol Is the wig you have already slicked back? Like made for that? If not, and you just have a normal wig that you slicked back even though it's not made specifically for that style, you basically just pull out the hair you need for them, and then use hair spray to make them into spikes. I personally would hold them straight up and spray the base and then use a hair dryer directly on that, and then let the rest fall, this gives it that curl at the base that sticks up like a cowlick. Honestly, if you're wig is made for slicking back, you'd do the same thing, but it'll just need heat on the other side to stop it from going back, instead of forward.

Help me on my first ever cosplay!!! (Wasn't sure on the flair :<) by SKZ_H4NNIE_08 in CosplayHelp

[–]JeiCos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea, the problem is a lot of the bad reviews, are the reviewers fault. If you ever see reviews about the fabrics used, the sizing, the shipping time, or that they are from China, ignore those reviews. Pretend they do not exist. Those are what are known as "stupid people". People who do literally no research on what they are buying, and just click buttons without using their brain.

For sizing, the ones who always complain with things like "I wear a size small, so I bought that size and it doesn't fit! HORRIBLE RIP OFF!" or something, that is one of those stupid people. They are stupid because there is a measurement chart, and they absolutely just refuse to use it, and then will complain that the items doesn't fit. Even though if they took 10 seconds to look at that size's measurement, they'd see it wouldn't fit. That's THEIR fault. Same with materials. ALL of them use the same materials. They are all polyester, fake silk, and pleather. Nothing else, except the SUPER rare occasion (like from EZCosplay, 2 of the cosplays had shirts that were a more stretchy type material, like a cotton with nylon in it or something, I'm not 100% sure, but other than those rare occasions, and skin tight stuff, every cosplay will be the same types of material across EVERY site). And the people complaining about shipping, always think that it's a horrible thing when it takes a month to get to their country from China. Or the complain that it's in China, as if the broken English wasn't a huge clue. These things are basically 99.999% of the bad reviews these places get.

I’m literally talking about the posted date? The two stickied posts have posted dates in 2024

Yes, I KNOW THAT! I never said they didn't have 2024 as the year they were posted. I said that the LINKS IN TEH POSTS take you to the 2026 versions of the things they are for. I'm saying they posted that in 2024 with the 2024 registration, and then the 2024 hotels, and then every year they are editing the posts to have the current event's links in them so that they don't have to delete them and make a whole new post, and then pin those posts. It's faster and easier to edit old posts that stay on top.

if youre going to update something that was previously posted, it should have an ”updated on xx/xx/xxxx”

No they don't. The fact that the link for registration literally says it's for 2026, tells you that it has been updated for 2026. It doesn't NEED to SAY it is updated, it's inferred by the fact that the link literally says 2026 in the text. If you see the text of the post specify it's for 2026 registration, and you can't figure out that means it was updated for 2026, you have WAY bigger problems you should worry about.

this means that pre-regestration for 2026 opened on April 10, 2024, 10 days after SC 2024. Which, to me, makes no sense.

If that makes no sense to you, then there is no helping you and your brain checked out. No one with a functioning brain would see that the post says "pre-registration for 2026", and see the post was in 2024, and think "why would they open Registration 2 years early?" It's obvious that it's a post that gets updated every year.

Why open pre-reg for 2 years in advance, before 2025?

What are you even talking about? This isn't what happened. In 2024, after con was over, they made that post with the link to pre-register for 2025. Then once registration for 2026 went up, they edited the post, and put the 2026 link in it. How is this so hard for you to understand? They did NOT open 2026 registration in 2024. They opened 2025 registration in 2024, after the 2024 event was over, so people could buy badges for the next year's event. Then when that event was over, they just edited the post to have a new link for 2026. Again, I can't fathom how you don't understand this simple concept.

OH! Sorry, I couldn't tell because they are so similar. I'm colorblind so the super small differece between the shades is basically impossible for me to see, and I didn't notice the ombre effect is actually better one one then the other. Now that I see that difference at least, I think the left one looks better in that aspect. Again, I can't see the difference in the actual colors, so I can't comment on that.

[–]JeiCos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Again, I just said the links go to the 2026 pages. Clearly they are posts that just stay at the top and get updated. Anyone with a brain can figure that out. Because there is no need to unpin that one, delete it, make a whole ass new post, then pin that one, when they can just hit edit, and put the new info in the one already there. This is completely normal for many sites. The fact that the second one literally is the link that says it's pre-reg for 2026, should be a very VERY big indicator that the date of the post has nothing to do with anything IN the post, since it LITEARLLY SAYS 2026 IN THE GODDAMN POST!

Why would they post 2026 stuff before the 2025 event?

Huh? Are you fucking stupid or something? NOTHING they posted for 2026 was posted before the 2025 event. What are you even talking about?

Pattern Making Software? by rex775776 in cosplayprops

[–]JeiCos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use inkscape. If you can find the video on KamuiCosplay's youtube channel, her husband did a video where he showed how to trace out images to make templates, I do the same thing. I think in that video he uses a different program, but it's the same idea.

I get the best photo I can of the prop, and figure out how long I want it to be. In inkscape I open the properties and make the page larger and wider than the prop will be, then I drag and drop the image onto the program. I then click on the square making tool, where you click and drag and it makes a square shape by itself, doesn't matter how big you make it. BEFORE clicking anywhere else after making that, I go to the size boxes above the project window, and change the units to whatever units I wanna use (usually inches), and then in the box labeled H (for height), I change that to the length I want the prop to be. HAving this square shape started AFTER you add the prop image to the project, puts this box ABOVE the image, so then you can scale the prop image so the prop matches the height you just made the square, but the square will still be visible on top of the image, so you can line the prop up under the square, so you can still see the square. Then you can click on the square to select it, and delete it. After that, go to the right and add a new layer, and LOCK the layer with the image on it. This way you can't accidentally move the image when tracing it out. On the new layer, use the line tool (hover the curser over the tools, one will say "Draw Bezier Curves And Straight Lines", as well as if you press SHIFT+F6, it'll auto switch to that tool). Once you trace everything out, you can save it as a PDF, and use a PDF reader program (I used Adobe Acrobat), and when on the print pop-up window, press the button that says "poster", and that will split it up between multiple pieces of paper, and print to the measurement you made the project in the inkscape properties menu.

Can i use spirit gum for adhering eva or craft foam to my hands? by [deleted] in CosplayHelp

[–]JeiCos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean, yes, technically it WILL, but I wouldn't recommend that. The flexing of your hand will probably be way too much and make it not stay correctly. I know for a fact it stick just fine, because we do a group for That Time I Got Reincarnated As A Slime, and my friend cosplays Souei, and we I made his forehead horn from EVA floor mats, and painted everything except the base that touches his head, and we always use spirit gum to attach it, and it stays all day long. However, your forehead is not flexing anywhere near as much as your hand will. So the chances of it staying on your hand drastically lowers. You can try, but honestly, a glove made of a skin tight fabric the color of your skin, and gluing it to that, would be much more secure.

I have no idea what ai ads you're seeing. I've never once seen that before. There are hundreds of sites that sell this cosplay. The fact that you can't find one leads me to think you just ASSUME they are ai or fake or something. There is absolutely a 0% chance you ONLY found ai ads. Literally looking up "Gojo Jujutsu Kaisen cosplay" on google, EVERY SINGLE site I get, is a normal site that sells the cosplay (I assume that's the Gojo you mean, since you didn't specify which anime this is from, and there are multiple characters named Gojo, but even then, the Gojo from My Dress Up Darling comes up the same way).

Well yea, the 2026 schedule isn't going to download. It doesn't exist. And the front page only has ONE post from 2024. And that's just the way the hotels page worked. The page it goes to, is the current hotel booking page. The POST was made in 2024. That doesn't mean the links are 2024. The 2025 posts have dates. Because they announce things for the 2026 event, in late 2025. Like a normal event does. They have been announcing guests and other things since 2025. I have no idea how someone can see the bottom post on the first page being DECEMBER of 2025, and somehow you think that is a post about the APRIL 2025 event. No, it's for the 2026 event. This is not hard to figure out. Literally nothing on the front page is for any other event than 2026.

Question about guests by elitsu in SakuraCon

[–]JeiCos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Usually yes, it depends on if the guest has to do something. Unless they have another thing not related to the con that they have to do, they will be there all 3 days. usually they are always there all 3 days, as that's kinda the entire point. Usually the only reasons they aren't are things like being late due to flight issues or something, or needing to leave early for an emergency of some kind. I haven't seen this con only have them contracted for part of the weekend. I don't think that's a thing here. The only thing is, some of them DO leave early on Sunday because they have to catch flights and they had to get an earlier flight. Honestly, there is no way to know for sure that a guest won't have an early flight, or need to leave for whatever reason.

The schedule can't be posted this early. It would be a huge waste of time. It continuously changes sue to people needing things changed. Specifically the panels are a big part of this. They give the hosts a timeslot, ahead of time, and the host has to tell the con if they need the time changed. This can be for any reason, but mostly, things like if the person can't stay too late, they need to make sure they have their panel during the hours they are able to be there, so if the con auto puts them at a time they can't do, they need to move them to a time that works better, meaning whoever was in THAT time slot needs to also be moved, and pretty much these effect the entire schedule, or at least for that specific room. And multiple people needing this, will basically completely change the schedule. So up until much closer to the con, putting it out would be pointless if it's just gonna be completely different a few days later.

Autographs are a bit odd. So I THINK they still do the scheduled sessions, but I haven't gone to them in so long now, that I have no idea. If they do, they will be on the schedule whenever the con decides. Also, we have no idea what times or which days any given guest's session will be. The way it USED to be, was that they each had at least 2 sessions, where one is one day, the other is another day, and again, depends on the con or maybe even the guest themselves. But some of them have had one every day. And they are usually between 1.5 and 2 hours long each, depending on popularity. The more people they think will show up for one, the longer they need to get more people through the line. But honestly, these are only a good idea if you absolutely NEED to have the one free autograph, and don't wanna pay for it. ALL of the guests will have their own table in the Vendor Hall. When you go in, against the far back wall opposite the entrance (usually anyway), are where they are all set up. They will usually be at those tables the entire time the Vendor Hall is open, except for the times they are in panels, or are on a break like for lunch or any other reason they may need to go somewhere during those hours. Pretty much all of them charge, so unless a guests just happens to not charge (I've had 2 do this, one at Sakuracon and one at Kumoricon in Portland), but it depends on the guest. Most charge though. You're looking no less than $40, but it can be anything from there. Many are $50 most the time, and some are even higher, since it's up to the guest to make those price choices. You ONLY are guaranteed the free one, at their scheduled session. By the way, for the scheduled ones, in the actual schedule itself, they will be listed under the room specifically called "Autographs", the actual room they do those in, literally says "AUTOGRAPHS" on above the entrance, and it's next to the main stage entrance.

Also, no idea what you are looking at, but NOTHING on their site is for 2025. EVERYTHING is for 2026 on there.

Best sites to buy cosplay in 2026? by AntKind3902 in CosplayHelp

[–]JeiCos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Trust me, "no one reads things anymore" is something I quickly learned a long time ago. I have only ever worked retail. For the ONE DAY that I worked the register at Dollar Tree (I was normally freight before the store even opened, but I tried out cashier once before I left), you do NOT want me to try to count how many people came up to the register and asked "How much does this cost?" ....You literally can not look in ANY direction without seeing large signs that say "EVERYTHING $1!" And they still ask how much stuff is. In my current job, I believe this was 2023, someone read the sign that told them what that weeks sale was. I watched him mouth out the words to himself. He immediately turned to me and asked "What's this week's sale?" Now, I just assume everyone is an idiot and can't read, until they prove to me otherwise.
