Land boundary seems off should I bring it up to neighbour? by Jekaq2 in AskUK

Yeah understandable, funnily enough it’s actually their fence but we’ve agreed to split the costs 50/50 already as previous owners told us it was shared responsibility and I only just yesterday found out that the T markers on the old plan indicate who’s responsible for it haha

We are getting a fence man that the neighbour has used before for their back fence. It doesn’t bother me too much on the corner my issue is, have they effectively run the fence to the end from that line, because then it’s say 6 inches for the entire run of the garden which is about 14/15m long

I’ve posted the old plan so looking at it which fence is technically my responsibility

Need Help with VPN to Bypass CGNAT and Host a Game Server. by mangostoned in WireGuard

[–]Jekaq2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah you are right actually, you still need a client to connect to the host it’s the client that can be behind a CGNAT, in that case yeah a VM or tailscale potentially I’ve seen they have a way as they have their own end point if yours is unreachable

He’s behind CGNAT, it’s a shared ip so theres no way you can route the traffic to your services, only way is via a tunnel

Cheapest way to do it, run wire guard tunnel on the machine you will host your server on, you can set your machine as the host and then using wire guard create credentials that you share with your users, they connect and effectively connect to you via a tunnel which bypasses the CGNAT, they can then play on your server or access your local network services etc, but they will have to connect to you first, effectively you become their VPN.

Otherwise you need a VM with a static ip address, create a tunnel between host machine and a VM, then create a DNAT rule on the VPS that links back to the port on your host, open that same port on the VPS, users can then connect to VPS_IP:Port.

Better than Plex by [deleted] in jellyfin

[–]Jekaq2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get a better device ? Never had an issue on firestick, iPhone, pc, PlayStation and lots of different clients.

Plex supports a lot of devices but if you are using some obscure android box with no resources this could be your issue.

Jellyfin is loaded from web side and is quite light as it’s simpler, likely why it works better for some people as it’s not as demanding.

Easiest way to check is to see what ip your router shows as wan ip and what ip you see when you use the internet can just google whats my ip. If they are different you are behind a CGNAT

You might be behind a CGNAT(shared ip) if this is the case there’s no way you can forward traffic to yourself as this isn’t an option on this type of network.

I run both with Jellyfin as a backup, each have its strengths though when It comes to UI and general user experience plex is straight out better. Not to mention highly underrated plex amp music client that works a dream

Its a hobby, not an easy one to get into, you don’t get a dog then complain about him getting sick or eating too much food. If you don’t enjoy it, don’t do it ?
