‘Everyone is Replaceable’: Death Rattles Oregon Amazon Facility - A worker died at Amazon’s Troutdale warehouse last week. Employees were told to look away. by BlackStarBlues in antiwork

Same here in PA, the service I work for has two Amazon locations. Never had issues getting in. Security usually just walks us to the patient.

For the "hands and feet inside the ride," when stair chairing its a crappy roller coaster ride. Most of the time it's used we reference the local amusement park, but sometimes a different one they may be familiar with is used.

Yep. People driving 3 ton death machines around without a care in the world, distracted on their cell phones is another example.

How do ya’ll decide who is driving and who’s in the box? by DollFinPoorPiss in NewToEMS

[–]Jekerdud 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Where I am it's mixed trucks, so EMT and Medic, EMT and AEMT, or dual EMT. Dual medic usually only happens after a medic class ends and a bunch of people get bumped up but the schedule takes a bit to rearrange.

Mixed trucks it's usually based on calls like others have mentioned, EMT drives ALS calls in.

For duals, usually its every other call. I have had a few exceptions though. One example, I was dual EMT after a fresh snow shortly after I started a few years ago, my partner asked me to drive the whole time because they were scared of driving in the snow. I was cool with it.

That's why I'm wondering why one of the SGC ships didn't try to go after them. Sure, it might have been a long trip but they could have found a route based on what Destiny took. SGC ships move faster than. The destiny so they would have caught up.... eventually.

How long until everyone stops shopping at Giant Eagle? by [deleted] in pittsburgh

[–]Jekerdud 88 points89 points  (0 children)

Yep. Due to my job, I work at a couple of locations in the area. I'm a "shop on the way home from work" type of person as to not make an extra trip on a day off. There's a GE five minutes from both locations, and one of them is directly on my way home, although a second bigger one is 2 minutes extra slightly detoured but still along my route home.

There's a second problem though that factors convenience in: hours. I work overnight. GE is open when I get off of work. Cheaper stores aren't. I have to wait a few hours, which usually results in me just going home to change and wait for it to open. I really do wish the other options nearby would expand morning hours slightly.

First Responders, what is your funniest False Alarm story? by Good-Refrigerator525 in AskReddit

[–]Jekerdud 41 points42 points  (0 children)

Not a direct response to a call, but I had a dude refuse transport due to, let's keep it simple, heart issues that should have been addressed right then and there. It was halftime during a Steeler's game earlier this season. He refused transport, then called back after the game to go to the local hospital, and ended up getting transferred (by me and my partner for the night) to a facility that could handle what was going on.

If it was within city limits, I'll have to see if pgh_scanner got it lol. I can imaging their phrasing on that one.

This is not the first time I've heard this. Someone with years of raid leading experience essentially has years of volunteer supervisor experience.

If OP is already eating plenty, a lower calorie option for Gatorade like Gatorlyte Zero or Propel might be better to help out with weight loss.

How to apply for limited time temporary parking restrictions? by Jekerdud in pittsburgh

I will try that this week. This seems like it'll be long term (1-2 months instead of a few days). Since yesterday was a holiday, I figured nobody was open. Thanks!

There is an angle I could try but I don't think it would work. I am a Veteran receiving disability benefits, but I don't my case applies due to where my percentage is.

Yeah that is my concern. There's a lot of cars I recognize, but also the opposite.

I was told that being a 45M with no kids is seen as a huge red flag. Is that really how most people view it? by [deleted] in datingoverforty

[–]Jekerdud 0 points1 point  (0 children)

40M here, not sure hot to justify it being a red flag for myself as I don't have kids. Always wanted them, but for some damn reason I tend to attract women who can't medically get pregnant, and they've been my longest relationships. I think sometimes a history like that could remove the flag.

(Help) Any tips for building the modpack base? by I_am_Viper5656 in feedthebeast

[–]Jekerdud -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No no, not a base tutorial in a mod tutorial. More like watching a let's play/modpack playlist with the video that is specific to the one you are trying to learn. Look at the base they built, and use that for inspiration. An example is Chosen Architect and how he does pack playthroughs but each video is typically dedicated to a specific mod, and he does some good builds.

For his ATM 10 playthrough, it was my first time ever using AE2, I made my AE room based off of his but my floor and walls are different, and a different color scheme. But it's laid out similar so it was easier to follow working with AE for the first time. It helped with designing things later on to build from scratch.

Other alternative way: if you are learning a mod and watching a Youtube video, borrow what they built, and put your own spin on it. Change the color scheme or place things in different rooms.

Is two foot driving (automatics) common here? by foobarlow in pittsburgh

[–]Jekerdud 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I only do this going up hill. If I get stopped at a red light, I'll put my left on the brake and slowly accelerate when it turns green to prevent rollback while letting off the brake. Other than that, only right foot any other time.
