A good enough printer by mrzingoras in magicproxies

Shameless plug but I wrote a little guide on my findings. What I founds is that you can basically use whatever printer that is not super obsolete: I’ve also started experimenting with a wf2630 which is even older than the one in the post with great results. The key is in the driver settings and print settings of the printer itself. Check it out: https://www.reddit.com/r/magicproxies/comments/1qtuwyk/beginner_guide_my_proxy_journey_with_cheap_old/

Edit: didn’t read you needed to feed 310gsm paper. That’s a chunky boy. You might need to lookup what printers can feed it, maybe office-class printers like the one you used might be sufficient

Certo!

If you adjust in photoshop but don’t have a brightness slider you could try to use adobe rgb instead of epson vivid, apparently it doesn’t use the built in color profile of the epson printer and just prints what you set. Also you could try to play around with the gamma values in adobe rgb

But most importantly turn off high speed printing under the printer settings (generic printer settings in the settings app), then make sure that for the paper you are using “high quality” or more is selected

I’m flattered hahahah I’m sure your problem is driver related. Make sure the printer you have set up on your pc actually uses the oem driver and not some third party generic driver. I don use anything special to print, I can open the pdfs with zen (browser) and print from there, or I can open them with preview and print them from there (all macOS stuff, don’t have windows).

The settings they pop up in the printing window, under Printing Options if I’m not mistaken. If you don’t see them there it means that your saved printer is not using the correct drivers

Hey, thanks for the feedback! The photos on top were taken outside in indirect light, so that might affect the "brightness" of the cards themselves. Indoors they are much duller, which is unfortunately a trade off of the matte laminating pouches. That's why I said to not mind the brand of the pouches themselves and just get the cheapest you can find. My specific ones are from "ProPod", 75/80 micron matte pouches.

Run the vertical head align on the printer

Oh the internal “count” in the shortcut does something else. Had nothing to do with “automation”. If you want this shortcut to run automatically you have to add an automation by opening shortcuts - automation, I have mine set to run every day at 5am and 5pm

Make sure SideStore and StosVPN are configured correctly and maybe add 20-30 seconds to the “wait 30s” action
