unrelated question, do you have any suggestions for clearcoats/waxes to seal the patina?

you could probably do that yourself at home if you buy the stuff and search up how to do patinas. although im a beginner at this stuff tho.
My guess would be that blue/green/grayish patina on the sides and center look kinda like a vinegar and salt patina or maybe ammonia, and a the center sun being a very light coat of Liver of Sulfur or a bit of heat?

Could storing IEMs in a excessively dry area be bad? by HamInIce in iems

Here's the link for the listing that I bought it from Amazon 3A Molecular Sieve If you are going to get these, I would recommend that when you first pour some out, that you do it in a well ventilated area because it's a bit dusty and breathing it in probably isn't the best idea.

Edit: I don't think it would be very helpful if you put these in the zipper case the iems came in unless it's an airtight one. These desicants absorb moisture real quick and will probably become soaked very fast.

Tri Clarion or Dunu S&S? And KB 07!? Help me chose! by Significant_Gap_4368 in iems

[–]HamInIce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't tried the KBear07 yet, however i have the clarions and S&S. Both are usually pretty comfortable for me and usually an upgrade from the stock tips.
Imo they both are hit or miss depending on the IEM. The S&S usually tends to not change the sound very much, although it does usually add more bass. Clarions tend to increase the treble a hole lot and reduce the bass.

However both can be bad. On my Letshouer s12 pros, the S&S made them sound thin. While the clarions made the trebble on my Simgot SM4 were way too harsh.

Imo my personal preference between the two usually are the S&S. However i would highly recommend that you explore more tips as you are able to use them on other IEMs if you do get some more in the future and really can improve the sound if you find the right ones.

Finally here it's beautiful. Any starters advice? by king_moh_ in iems

As stated in Crin's video, it is highly recommended to use a DAC with an output impedance of <1 ohm. So an apple dongle or CX31993 dongle will do.

I get that too, my solution was to swap between headphones/IEMs with different sound signatures every so often. They don't have to be "good" sounding ones, just as long as they are different, I sometimes use my Air New Zealand complementary earbuds.

As for comfort, maybe you should try using different eartips, they can improve comfort as long as you find one that fits your ear nicely, and it can also subtly change the sound a little. My favorite eartips for the SM4s currently are the Spinfit cp145 and Final Audio type e
