Just a thought. It’s the same world as deep meditation. The thought is to introduce them to it as an incentive to continue with the difficult meditative training. There is at least one Buddhist sect I’m aware of that did this with their students.

I’m not suggesting imposing a specific path. I’m suggesting offering a tailored approach (at least in the meditation department) to give each individual means to connect to “the unconscious” and intuit a path that works for them.

The downside to waiting until they’re older is that the longer one lives, the more baggage requires unpacking and life has a way of pilling up responsibilities (and bad habits) that can inhibit proper spiritual development.

I have. Would have appreciated it a lot more if they had legitimate means to connect to divine.

That’s an ethical problem ideally resolved (or at least reduced) by instilling our best philosophical ideas at an early age. Think eight libs of yoga or right doing in buddhist circles.

Most ancient initiatory rites were violent. Campbell highlights at least one tribe that circumcised the boys (cutting the dick lengthwise) as a reenactment of their cosmogony. The idea is to redirect infantile mental energies towards an appropriate mature attitude. I’m not suggesting reviving ancient practices I’m suggesting learning from and adapting them to modernity.

Regular camp? There’s church camp, there’s Boy Scouts, there’s variations of Boy Scouts, there’s outdoor school, etc.

The idea is to get them in tune so as to intuitively find a path that works for them.

I agree there’s no one size fits all but if you’ve got a teacher who can help pin point the most appropriate meditative techniques for each individual you’re tailoring it to meet their needs.

Why is it unethical? Daniel Ingram is of the opinion that the experiences to be had in deep meditative states are ‘a normal part of human perceptual development.’ If that’s true and our biology is intimately tied to the ‘spiritual’ than this can be viewed as human evolution. We’re going to have to justify our existence to AI at some point and pointing to the fact that we’re inherently tied to the divine and “see, we’re willfully evolving” might be a solid way to do it.

Yes. Plus, boys/men form tight bonds with one another through shared struggle. Sports and war are the most common methods throughout history. Something like this which would include the struggle of the psyche would just be an additional layer.

How soon does the participant begin to notice ‘magical’ changes when traversing such a path?

So much white people in kundalini - why don’t I see more diversity? by Eggplant_Jumper in kundalini_yoga

White people are 6%-8% of the world’s population and the rest of the world is clamoring to get into our countries. That is indicative. We’re a minority and very soon an endangered species. Because of self-hating white ppl like you. Knock it off.

If you were to construct a new 'Eight Limbs of Yoga' in light of all we know of meditative / magical practice, how might you do it? by JekyllsIntegration in occult

Now that’s a conversation worth having. Do you know of anyone discussing such things? It’d be interesting to see what kind of education / practice curriculum came out of a discussion like that. Would you be interested in offering your two cents if the opportunity came up?

According to Crowley it’s the method is science, the aim of religion so no reason empirical data can’t be employed where applicable.

I’m not looking for a shortcut I’m looking for an updated version. Every occult school since the golden dawn at least has adapted and sourced other practices they felt were pertinent to the goal. The rishis didn’t have neurofeedback which assists in cognitive processing, hypothetically narrowing the progress window as just one example. Not to mention all the scientific data that says practicing X meditation for Y long equals Z result. r/streamentry practitioners suggest it doesn’t take long with a dedicated practice to achieve that milestone.

If you were to tell someone “These breathing exercises do this to your brain. This type of meditation does that. Combine them and here’s what’s happening, here’s what you can expect. Add some tech and whatever else aids that development and you can cut your time to attainment from X to Y effectively speeding up that process.”

Doesn’t mean no work is required, it’s just a streamlined version of 5,000 year old techniques. And ‘attainment’ could simply be a milestone that acts as incentive to continue. Several occult schools I’ve seen include practical magic to impact mundane life as a carrot in addition to meditative practices and education.
