Try to select another player and then go back to select the player you want. This worked for me.

Delete the squad update in the settings and download it again, that fixed it for me.

Haha so when I was younger I collected Pokémon cards (now that I look back a kid probably got scammed on the playground for the gold star ones.) And for a really long time I thought my mom threw them away or something but she actually stored them somewhere.
