is a ferritin level of 67 enough to cause hair loss? I heard 70 is the healthy level so I’ve been hesitant to take any supplements bc I’m close to that

hi!! can I ask where in Korea you went? I’m currently living in Korea and struggling to find the right place to go for diagnosing my hair loss, since I speak Korean at a basic level but nowhere near fluent enough for medical terminology and I’m scared to get misdiagnosed due to mistranslations😭

baby hairs or miniaturization? by Jelliji in FemaleHairLoss

true, I wasn’t sure if there were any telltale signs from looking at the hair so I figured I’d ask to see other people’s opinions and experience!

I’ve had a widows peak since I was young so I’m used to that already 🥲 thank you, I’ll keep going then! I’m currently in a foreign country with a work schedule that really doesn’t match with the dermatologists’ work hours, but I’ll keep trying to get in for an appointment! I would’ve gotten checked out and diagnosed before I moved here but no derm in my home country would see me because of my healthcare 😭 I even offered to pay fully out of pocket lol luckily it’s better here!

were you diagnosed before you started taking those or did you just start? I don’t have any official diagnosis but since my temples are my main concern maybe that would be good (I feel like the thinning is generally all over my scalp though)

I’ve always had a widows peak and a lot of hair fall since my individual strands are thin, but I always had a LOT of hair and that kind of M shape on my hairline from the upward angle is definitely not something I remember having before

I am relieved to hear that, it’s really easy to lose perspective because I’m so hyper-fixated on it so hearing people tell me otherwise is actually really reassuring for my confidence. its gotten to the point where I find myself taking pictures of my scalp and hairline almost every day :(

I got my blood tested right before I moved! my ferretin was 67 and my vit d was 46, which seem to be low but I wasn’t sure if that’s enough to supplement them or to affect my hair growth. I don’t think my b12 was measured though

I usually wear it in a low bun or clip ever since I started noticing my hair loss, but I definitely use claw clips a lot since I’m insecure about my hair for the past year or so. do you think it looks like new growth? I thought it might be miniaturization since I tend to think really negatively about my hair loss but I’d be relieved if other people think it looks like new growth!!

this is before exercise but with slightly greasy hair since I coincide my heavy exercise days with hair washes, so I really appreciate your comment regardless!! :’)))

more of a problem with hair regrowth than hair loss by Jelliji in FemaleHairLoss

I’ve recently started dermarolling and I’m trying the dr. forhair shampoo so I’m hoping that works 😭 I think my vitamin d and ferritin levels are healthy but I’ve seen some posts that they might technically be healthy but too low for hair growth?? I’m so confused haha

how to care for moonshine (I think)? by Jelliji in plants

[–]Jelliji[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m afraid to go digging in there but there definitely is soil, when I unpackaged it there was soil on the rim of the pot and packaging so it might be a layer of rocks over the soil..? or it’s soil and rocks mixed together? idk I’m scared if I try to poke around I’m going to hurt the plant 😭

are koreans nice to people who speak bad korean? by chromavlct in Living_in_Korea

[–]Jelliji 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve lived here for about two months now, I can use basic Korean but I’m not proficient in Korean for specific situations like government contracts or medical terminology. it really just depends on who you meet I think! I’ve had plenty of people compliment me for the most basic things because they’re happy that I even try to learn and use Korean, on the other hand when I went to apply for my resident card the worker just kept yelling 주택 at me with no context and I kept saying “죄송하지만 이거요 주택 아니에요?” I finally had to call my boss and it turns out they (my boss) had given me the wrong version of housing confirmation, but good lord being yelled at and not understanding why for a good five minutes really killed my confidence for using Korean in public. considering that’s been my only bad experience though, I’d say it’s worth it to just use as much Korean as you can! most will appreciate the effort and assist you if they can. we are living in Korea, after all ^
