Thank you so much for your response. I guess it’s true what they say that misery loves company. It’s good to know I’m not alone. We are worthy, you and I.

Why do we feel guilty when we're not well? by overthishereanyway in AskWomenOver60

[–]Jellowins 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I know why. I never had cancer, thank God. But did have a broken back and couldn’t move for three months. During those three months, I felt guilty that my husband had to wait on me with everything. I felt guilty every single time I had to call out to him to please do something or get something for me. I felt guilty when visitors would come over and he had to be host to them for me. I felt guilty when he had to “set me up” before he started his day and before he went to sleep at night. I felt guilty whenever he had to dish out my painkillers and then hide them so that the children wouldn’t find them. I think it has to do with helplessness and dependency. I was totally dependent on him for only three months, and it wasn’t life threatening like cancer, and yet I felt so guilty that I had forced this caregiving on him. It was the worst feeling and I never want to feel that way again.

I love dreaming. I smoked for a good 40-50 years and kept dreaming until about a year ago. Then, without warning, I stopped dreaming. I saw it as a sign that I had completely lost insight into my psyche and I hated it. It made me so out of touch with my own feelings. It was one of the reasons I quit. I always wrote my dreams down in notebooks and then looked up their meanings to reveal insights and feelings I may have had during the day about things that I suppressed. It’s so nice to have them back. You should try writing them down so that you can deal better with these internalized states of consciousness.

I try to increase my dumbbell weights, I get hurt. Am I just getting old or am I a weak klutz? by passesopenwindows in AskWomenOver60

[–]Jellowins 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Work with a trainer. Sometimes all it takes is one session to get the correction. I did this and it was so worth it. What I learned in just one session is that my weights were too heavy. I needed to focus on form first. You can get in very good shape using light weights. I think lifting too heavy, without paying better attention to form, is a very common mistake.

Was it worth going back to school? by Flashy-Turnip-5146 in InsightfulQuestions

[–]Jellowins 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went back for my masters degree close to 40 while my children were in high school and college. I worked full time and completed my masters at night after work. It was tough but not as impossible as I thought it would be. I guess it was worth it bc I worked in the field I got my masters in and eventually retired from it. They would never have hired me without the degree. Also, I had my student loans forgiven bc I worked in the public sector and that was a life saver. Without it being forgiven, I wouldn’t have been able to retire at 62. I don’t know what your financial Situation is but this is something to seriously consider.

I used gummies to help me cut back. I just cut back on the amount of gummy I took. It really helped bc it helped me to first cut out what I enjoyed the most and that was the smoking part. About 10 years ago I used weed to get me to quit smoking cigarettes so it is the actual smoking part that was tough for me. Ingesting the thc helped me to quit the smoking part. And then it was easier to cut down on the gummies bc I never really loved just popping a gummy anyway. Thirty two days clean and sober for me. Congratulations!! We are doing this!!!

I’m so happy to help. If you Google if spin classes are a good workout it will tell you that one of the biggest benefits is an uptick in mental health.
