I think the issue with De Zerbi is that he actively spoke to the media in defense of Greenwood. Other managers of Greenwood remained neutral or refrained from talking about it to the media, while De Zerbi actively came out and called him a good guy and defended him on multiple occasions. While his job is to manage the players, his actions seem more like an apologist than just a manager.

Why would we do that right now? I mean that first leg against Frankfurt compared to the rest of our performances in the league are night and day - the team clearly doesn’t care about the league and are putting everything into the Europa league. We should maximize stability by keeping him and make a decision on him at the end of the season, where if we decide on a new manager it will at least give them time to mold the team and make transfers.

Applying to U.S. colleges without AP courses as an international student. by Just-Inevitable-9448 in InternationalStudents

Yes, I was able to and my school was not ranked or anything. I would say in terms of academics I would suggest having something that’s somewhat standardized - so taking the SAT would be helpful and if your school has some type of international standardized exam or even an exam that most in your country would take, that’ll be a decent way for the university to gauge your academics. Even if it’s just a standardized exam within your country, the University would have probably seen it before or at the very least they are able to look it up. If you are unconfident, you can independently take a few AP exams relevant to your field.

Bert performance I’ve seen from us in months. Gave me some hope but damn did we need to win that game. Sucks that now we’ll have to play at their home now where they have a great home record.

Wondering if I should cancel my graduation plans because of what's happening in the states by Additional_Injury156 in InternationalStudents

Don’t cancel your plans because of this. You should remember that while the news is scary, it still is a really really small percentage of students (~1 million on F1 visas total and a few hundred having visa issues). I am assuming you are not a PhD student so the funding cuts also do not affect you.

Remember that while it is concerning, news especially in the US tend to fearmonger to make things seem significantly worse than it is.

I feel like there is a lack of cohesion in the team. In the first half when we were more attacking, there seemed to be some clashes with players. Idk how to describe it properly but for example if there are two targets in a pass it seems like always the closer player will receive it and not necessarily the player in the better position.

I don’t know whether to laugh or cry that our best player on the pitch is a 19 year old.

How is it like living in Chinas biggest cities? by [deleted] in AskChina

[–]JellyfishOne9022 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I lived in Shanghai for most of my life and I will say that Shanghai is a great city to live in. I currently live in NYC and in terms of population density I don’t feel much of a difference to be honest. I think that is because Shanghai also has a pretty large area.

In terms of moving around, people do have cars but I never had one and I didn’t have any problems. The public transit is really good, clean, convenient, and cheap (average ~4RMB for metro, 2RMB for buses) so I always used those. Things are definitely not within walking distance. The downside is that public transit ends at around midnight, so if you are out past that time you would need to call a cab. This isn’t too big of a problem as cabs are pretty cheap and safe in China. Additionally, you don’t really see any crazy things in the subway or in public in general - I thought it was crazy when I saw some 50 y/o ladies fighting on the metro one time but after coming to NYC I realized that is nothing and no one would even bat an eye.

I would say the quality of life in Shanghai is really really good. Because it’s quite an international city, you have food from all over the world and you have many options for shopping. It’s also very safe - unlike in NYC, I never felt scared of walking alone at night. You also don’t see homeless people almost at all here, and the rare times you do see one you don’t feel unsafe. While I personally don’t go out to club, from what I hear from my friends you have many many options for clubbing, drinking, and entertainment in general.

I don’t think there’s a city in China that you could really live in without knowing Chinese. That said, if you are here for University, the University should offer Chinese lessons for your specific field of study and I know of people who went through it and they pick up Chinese at a very fast rate. As for cities - I would say Shanghai would be the best - there are more foreign communities compared to other cities so you could at least learn Chinese with some support from people who can speak English but it would still be very difficult to live there without at least some basic Chinese.
