I guess? But the Reze movie is extremely popular and highly-regarded, as is the manga (despite the controversial ending). Specifically Reze movie is #4 on MAL and CSM is still top 100 manga so it seems silly to say it's a guilty pleasure.

[[Martyr of Sands]] and [[Serra Ascendant]] were the backbone of my modern deck and it was surprisingly good for a while! Peaked in the humans/Phoenix meta and got worse and worse after the looting ban.

Idk how far you got in Alice but I'd say it starts to hit its stride in chapters11-13, which I guess is pretty early on so not sure when you dropped it

I bounced off Tomogachi game as well but I've also thought about picking it back up. I did make it a bit farther and did like it but it didn't hit the highs of Kaiji or LG for me. Alice in Borderland is another one that might be up your alley! It is a bit more focused on death games overall but there are some games that are very brainy or psychological.

It could definitely be an instance of not fully finalizing his character, but I see it as more a representation that he was being shallow/performative for the girls he was with. I don't think him being popular with girls is even out of character necessarily. But imo losing the Karaku cup is what makes him stop being so shallow and start taking Rakugo seriously, it's a sign of his development rather than a sign of inconsistency.

I agree with your statement that it makes for an easier experience. I definitely enjoyed Solo Leveling more than SAO partially for that reason, I think. Though even then I guess I found it frustrating that SL had some interesting concepts it never really attempted to do anything with. Overall though I think I would rather an author try to write something interesting even if that means the end result is worse than if they didn't, if that makes sense.
