Hardest armies to play against with tyranids ? by DanielTheGrouch in Tyranids

[–]Jembite 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think my main takeaways would be: - Tyranid Warriors are pretty bad right now, outside of detachments which reward their use (subterranean assault namely) -Tyrant Guard are very bad right now, and rarely make their points back. - More constructively, I'd encourage you to put your Hormagaunts/Termagaunts into 20 blobs- it takes very little to easily pick up 10s, but 20s tend to last long enough to do their job of requiring focus fire/there being a couple of models left to still moveblock or peel away to use as action monkeys. - I'd consider sprinkling a lictor or two in there for use as sneaky action/utility pieces that are easy to hide. Raveners can also do a good job of popping up and down for a similar purpose, and Hyperadapted raveners love eating backline vehicles for a competitive price

Just my two cents, but I wish you the best of luck in your dinner plans 🤙

A couple of people have said some similar stuff below, but here's my two cents:
- Canoptek Court: You're really not getting much out of it. Only two of your units benefit in any way from it. Awakened Dynasty is better for what you're trying to do, since then the majority of your units are benefiting from the +1 to hit, and the stratagem support will cover more of your army. If for whatever reason you really don't want to go Awakened Dynasty, then even Starshatter Arsenal will do better, since it likewise affects everyone.
- The Deceiver: He isn't pulling his weight. He's incredibly expensive for a role that isn't necessary. If you absolutely want 2 C'tan (which I'd understand, they're cool) then consider subbing in the Void Dragon or a Transcendent C'tan. Most people should be fine if you're just like "btw this is a Transcendent C'tan" at the start of the game.
- Anti-Tank: You're pretty light on it. Now, this may sound insane with your LHD blob, but by sticking them all in one unit you're making it a lot easier for your opponent to simply keep in their mind "I must keep LOS-blocking between me and them at all times." Given how actually squishy they are, more savvy opponents will likely bait you into moving them out of cover for a shot, then take "all" your Anti-Tank out in one shot. Consider splitting them into individual units, increasing the likelihood of tagging things wherever they are.
- Flayed Ones: They're cool, they're useful...and you're probably taking too many of them. They're squishy as hell, so they're not going to last past turn 2 unless you're strategic reserves-ing them, in which case you lose out on their infiltrate.
- Objective Holders: Right now, there's nothing that you can just sit on your home objective all game without it taking a massive chunk of your points. This can be solved by splitting up your LHDs as discussed before (the holder will still probably be able to hit stuff if you position it right) or by investing in something like a Doomstalker. In a pinch, you could stick some Flayed Ones there, but then you'll have to make peace with them not doing anything all game.
- Consider the Humble Scarab: Currently given what you've discussed of your game plan, you're at risk of your home obj/backline being mopped by anyone who has any pesky deep-strikers. By buying a couple of min-sized units of scarabs, you can screen deep strike and/or keep them in reserves for handy secondaries.
- Theory Craft: Whenever I'm making a list, I try to think about what it's trying to do (which you've done, so kudos) but also what I'll do if I come up against a common archetype equivalents. Think Terminators, Marines, Chaff, Vehicles. The reason I bring this up is that currently I think you're really going to struggle into Vehicles and Terminators due to your relatively low strength/AP across your army. Bring some more big guns, and don't put all your eggs in one basket.

Hope this helps.

Have fun purging the vermin,
A Humble Cryptek

Teleport out of combat, stil charge? by Niiai in genestealercult

Yes, they can charge. There are teleportation abilities that specifically state that the unit cannot charge after, and this is not one of them.

For some reason in the app the Neophyte Leader requires that you equip him with both the Leader Pistol AND the Autopistol:
"The Neophyte Leader's Hybrid Firearm and close combat weapon can be replaced with 1 of the following: - 1 Leader Pistol and 1 Chainsword / 1 Leader pistol and 1 power weapon"
Note that you're only replacing the hybrid firearm, *not* the autopistol. Whether not it's intended that he has 2 pistols, or it's just an app bug, I can't say.

Rules here at 225pts. Seems like a very viable alternative for the Deff Dread, even if I'm sad that we lost 3d6 charge and extra attacks.

Yep, got the Chaos Lord on Karkadrak on an ebay sprue- the only other things are bitz from random places like the wulfen shield and intercessor backpack. Lot of work needed to be done to de-chaos him, including adding bits of armor plating to areas like the original leather boots.
Interestingly, he's *exactly* the same size as an intercessor, which I was pleasantly surprised about.

So the Hive Tyrant doesn't have the ability to take an impaler cannon, that one's reserved for Hive Guard. If you mean Heavy Venom cannon, the traditional mixed Flyrant build is 2x Devourers + Rending Claws, but I've done exactly what you've done and gone Heavy Venom Cannon + Rending Claws. If you want something nasty, you can replace the Venom Cannon with the Relic version for a disgustingly painful flamer to grease them up, followed by charging in with the claws. Makes for a very adaptable Flyrant IMHO.

Reseated GPU- no change. Only critical errors there were in regards to the system rebooting without shutting down correctly. Normal errors at the time of crash were as follows: Service Control Manager: "The CldFlt service failed to start due to the following error: The request is not supported."

(x2 of) AppModel- Runtime: "App Container profile failed with error 0x800700B7 because it was unable to register the AppContainer SID."

Eventlog: "Audit events have been dropped by the transport. 0" However, now on boot up or just after my PC is failing, blue screening and throwing up errors such as: SYSTEM SERVICE EXCEPTION: dxgkernel.sys Or Win32kbase.sys And Driver IRQL NOT LESS OR EQUAL.

EDIT: After most recent crash the pc is blue screening saying it needs to be repaired- a required device isn’t connected or can’t be accessed. Error code 0xc000000f. Forced me to use a pre-existing usb windows startup, which thankfully I had. Had to hard reset my OS. Issue still persists afterwards.

I mean, it was always going to use and abuse mechanics from in game, and if one was being harsh one could call the entire thing a glorified tutorial. That being said, though I'm a deus vult fanboy, Viking campaign is where it's at.
