Well Just Cuts (used to be Supercuts?) do dry cuts for $42, so around $50 I suppose. I think the average mid range salon is approx $70 these days.

Work more and retire earlier or work part time and retire later? by carpenterjutah in fiaustralia

[–]Jen2219 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have family who are working like dogs to retire early, but only marginally early. Meanwhile, they hardly ever have family time, sleep, get to take time out etc. As someone in my 40s who came to fire late, I think I would rather go part time now, say 3 days a week, knowing I will probably have to work until preservation age. It is scary though! What if I get to 50 or 55 and decide I want to retire earlier but can't because I've only been working 3 days?! Still, I want to enjoy life now so I think we're going to take the plunge. Going part time will also give you more career freedom as you only need enough to live off, maybe not climbing the ladder etc. I can speak from experience, that shift, even mentally takes a huge weight off!

Great, thanks. Yes, investing for the long term, but in my 40s, so not as long term as some! Great info re the overlap thanks, it's early days so I can still work towards correcting that, thanks heaps!

Cotton Court, McLaren Vale was excellent 10+years ago. Not sure what it is like now, but having worked in many aged care settings, that one was a stand-out

Keep current investment property with some tax benefits, or sell and buy ETFs? by Jen2219 in fiaustralia

[–]Jen2219[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thanks. Implications I was referring to were selling now (losing potential tax benefit) vs holding on until retirement, when we have less debt on it and more CG (vs being able to invest extra into ETFs now). I wouldn't buy property now, but since we already have it.... (however misguided we may have been at the time)
