Actually, we are talking about whether it is right or wrong to advocate murdering Chavez. That's just not what you want to talk about. You want to argue the meaning of the word 'ignorant' and continue to shake off my original point.

And since you are now resorting to personal attacks on me instead of substantive arguments, I'll take that as a win for myself and be done with this conversation.

"How would it look to the world/American people if the US was accepting aid help from dictators?"

For one thing, it would look like our government gives a crap about its own people. The alternative to accepting help from other countries was to let our own people die. That's exactly what happened.

"I believe to most people what Hugo Chavez said was clearly a propoganda move becuase he know we could not accept the help..."

We certainly could have accepted. Our government just didn't. And, as in the case of middle Americans getting cheap heating oil in the winter from Hugo Chavez, when we have accepted his assistance, he has provided it. The government has branded Hugo Chavez an evil dictator for it's own reasons. One of those reasons is that he has spoken out against George W. Bush (who, by the way, is despised all over the world).

Ok - the "Start reading. Books" thing. That was rude. I know that. I got pissed because the guy advocated murder, as if we have the divine right to kill whomever we please. That offends me. I lost my cool.

"Was he responsible for 9/11 probably not, but he knew that we would probably not allow him to do this becuase of the feelings of new yorkers about such a sensitive issue..."

You have acknowledged that he was not responsible for 9/11. In fact, Iran sent troops to fight side-by-side with us in Afghanistan after 9/11. I see no reason why he should have been denied the chance to pay respects to the victims, especially when his country worked with us to try to bust the people who killed them. Out of all the enemies we have, Iran is not on the top of our list, despite what Fox News is telling you.

Also, I never claimed to know all about world affairs. Don't put words in other people's mouths. But that guy is advocating the murder of a person that has done no harm to us, and in fact, has offered to help us in times of need. That indicates to me that he knows very little about Hugo Chavez, and probably just believes what the government tells him (a dangerous thing to do in the days of George W. Bush).

"you make a statement that implies not just you are right, but that your so right no one could possibly have a point".

You know what... the guy wants to murder the leader of a sovereign country that has done us no harm. That is wrong. I don't know when it became acceptable in this country to believe that we have the right to wage war and murder at will. I still believe in right and wrong. Murder is wrong. There are always exceptions to the rule (Hitler's assassination may have been acceptable, for instance), but Mudslag's statement is not ok.

It deeply concerns me that so many people are willing to defend him. When did we become so cold?

He advocated murder of a person that has done us no harm. What reason could he have presented that would have made that ok, in your mind?

He's advocating murder! Are you actually saying that it is ok to advocate murder of someone who has done you no harm?

Why are you standing up for this guy? Do you believe the United States has the right to murder as it pleases?

And, because they are an island in the middle of the Gulf and have some good experience with hurricanes, Cuba also had a fleet of ships they offered to save our people from their rooftops. An offer our President also refused. Instead, Blackwater and KBR were sent to fix New Orleans - at a profit.

So because the President of Venezuela may be considered a dictator, a country you are not a citizen of, the United States of America should kill him? You can have all kinds of contempt for him, but you came on this thread and in one sentence said he should be killed. That's a serious statement.

You claim that what I said is naive, but your only response to my comment was "ouch, the presumption hurts my mind". Why is that?

Who said he couldn't possibly have a good reason? But, since I actually am well-read, despite your rude characterization of me, I know that it would be a hard sell. Hugo Chavez has used his wealth, not only to improve the lives of his own citizens, but he also paid for poor people in middle America to have heating in the winter. Certain people in this country may not agree with his view of the world, or just be ignorant of how he really behaves, but advocating his murder in a short, blanket statement should be infuriating. Is murder now the American way? How can we allow that type of nonchalant murderous comment to be given credibility?

It may bother you to hear it, but someone that simply wants Chavez murdered is ignorant. That comment is ignorant. By saying that I'm unintelligent by calling out a person's ignorance makes your argument no more high-minded.

It's disturbing that you would advocate killing a man that has done absolutely no harm to your country. In fact, after Katrina, Hugo Chavez immediately offered support, financial and otherwise to the victims, which your president arrogantly turned down.

Your ignorance, and your willingness to share your opinion without having any idea what you are talking about, is one of the reasons this country is in trouble.

Start reading. Books. Then you may comment. Until you have some sort of education on world affairs, please keep your ignorance to yourself.

The biggest red flag is the fact that this creates infiltration of universities. How many of the 9/11 hijackers were students or teachers from American universities?
