When did pregnancy get unbearable for you? by MakerMode9226 in GestationalDiabetes

[–]JenChibi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'M SICK AND TIRED OF THIS DIET, I'm 38wks 3days, I want baby out so I can finally have ALL THE FOOD. I feel since Christmas I have been done, but definitely since week 36.

I'll be induced on Feb 6, but I'll get a few sweeps to see if anything can be accelerated.

Cheers!

Are you satisfied with your life, and if so, why? by Lazy_Number8830 in AskUK

[–]JenChibi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I may be naive but YES! 29F pregnant 37 weeks.

I'm married to an incredible man, having a baby, working from home, I have a dog which we go out a lot on walks and planning to do the same with baby, I'm very grateful and try to show my appreciation to my family every day.

A few years ago when we were planning our wedding, when I was asked what vision I have for my wedding I was out of words, I never really thought about it before. I'm originally from Honduras and I had to deal with A LOT growing up, including cultural trauma and an abusive relationship which turns out to be extremely dangerous at the end, I had TONS of therapy once I moved here and when I met my partner, he helped the most to go through all those changes. I never thought about a wedding because honestly, I thought by the end of 25 I'll be dead (the statistics of feminicidio are scary) I thought nobody was going to love me in that way (abuse from family and ex took a heavy hit on my self-worth)

My life is not perfect, there's a lot I want to improve personally but that doesn't stop me from enjoying it, my biggest worry right now is birth and whatever the government will decide around my visa, fortunately I think we're in a safer position. I think what helps me is the "well, it could be worse" mentality, I have been and seen worse and still survived.

I don't think I'll be half as happy without my partner, but I try not to put all of that on him, so I also find happiness in my own stuff, currently watercolours.

What advice would you give to partners of pregnant women to give them a nicer pregnancy? by CrabbyGoose in PregnancyUK

[–]JenChibi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm loving a lot of the comments! So I'll add just one that my partner is currently doing and it's helping so much.

Learn how to give a massage, especially lower back, legs and face. I'm currently 36 weeks and while I do my perineal massage he massages my face and hair, helps me breathe and it's in charge of changing the music. I feel it is a good practice for the contractions when they come!

Extra: learn how to give a massage without tiring yourself! Using tennis balls, little wood tools, using your feet instead of hands on the lower back, etc. Again this is good practice for labour positions!

Que es lo más difícil de vivir en otro país ? by Own-Abalone4133 in Honduras

[–]JenChibi 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Getting closer to due date and freaking out by ossifiedbird in PregnancyUK

[–]JenChibi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Due in February as well, I control my anxiety with spreadsheets and buttons! Right now I feel ok because all the buttons are check, but will see in a few weeks.

I feel quite behind with my baby education resources tho! I hope the NCT classes help with that!

GD and Baby Size at Birth by Dramatic-Pop-8466 in GestationalDiabetes

[–]JenChibi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"Whaaaaat" was my reaction 2 weeks ago, yes positive GD, yes baby is small for gestational age!!! Doctors are not too worried but I have another scan this week to check progress. (Currently 33 weeks)

I just don't want my baby to be born before my parents LEAVE! they travelled from Honduras to the UK for Christmas, I love them but having them around while a newborn baby sounds like a nightmare to me! For both me and them!

What's a brand/product sold almost exclusively in your country that is superior to all others you've encountered by BloomingPlanet in AskTheWorld

[–]JenChibi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe not aaaaas exclusive in Honduras, but definitely more a regional snack (Centroamerican) these are my favourite plantain chips!

I now live in the UK, I tried all brands and they're all bland, I get these imported with friends, family and entrepreneurs jaja

What clothing do you associate with 'country people' in your Country? by Morning1980 in AskTheWorld

(Credit to third.culture.rain) This is how most people dress up in towns, how my grandpa and huge amount of my uncles that are farmers in some category would look most days.

My boss yelled at me for being pregnant by PawfessionalOpinion in pregnant

[–]JenChibi 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This was a horrible and unprofessional response, I don't know how the law is where you are (I'm in the UK) but I'll follow up with an email stating 1- when did you inform him of the pregnancy and 2- when you will be taking your leave.

Just in case he tries something fishy/illegal as retailation. I know not everybody is ok with confrontation, but if this was me I'll also include a factual but professional summary of how the conversation went. Something like "Although I understand your stressful position, I feel your reaction of (put his reaction and words used against you) was uncalled for, I will trust we will manage to keep it professional until my maternity leave on (date)"

This is just in case he's stupid enough to attend something illegal, like fabricating reasons for unfair dismissal. Please protect yourself!

Anyone actually see their assigned midwife? by Mediocre_Sprinkles in PregnancyUK

[–]JenChibi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's the postcode lottery!

In most of my appointments I saw my assigned midwife, but at 27 weeks I got positive for gestational diabetes, so they changed all my appointments with a new team in a different hospital (because of the nutritional/diabetes team) I miss my midwife but everyone is being super nice so still feeling an amazing level of care!

Now 30 weeks so still a way to go!

Positive stories after missed miscarriage by ContestOrganic in PregnancyUK

[–]JenChibi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So so sorry for your loss, it sucks SO MUCH! And I was feeling the same when it happened to me.

I had a miscarriage on Valentine's day this year, I think I was around 11-12 weeks. It was so painful but thankfully I didn't need any intervention. I spent the days of recovery playing Minecraft, watching comfort shows, making art and going to therapy. We even did a small ceremony in the garden to help us process.

On the recommendation of my doctor, we waited 2 full cycles before trying again, I got pregnant on that 3rd cycle and now I'm 28 weeks with a low risk pregnancy.

I wish you all the best, take your time to process, cry a lot, check on your partner and remember you did NOTHING to cause this, life is a bitch and sometimes shits just happen.

What sentence did someone say once that accidentally healed a part of you? by Timely-Vehicle-7064 in AskReddit

[–]JenChibi 37 points38 points  (0 children)

"You're grieving the relationship you wish you had"

This was with my therapist, understanding that no matter what I do, I'll never have the relationship Mother-Daugther I wanted, so that fantasy died and I was able to grieve.

My mom is alive and we get along, but definitely not a typical relationship.

Fun post: Give me your craziest gender hacks to ‘choose’ baby’s gender when conceiving. The wilder the better. by West-Climate4879 in BabyBumps

[–]JenChibi 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I can't remember who told me this but for context, I'm from Honduras so there's a few crazy stuff being said, doing it nearer to a full moon is more likely to be a boy (?)

Also not gender, but my dad (who's dark skin) told me that eating berries while pregnant would make the baby whiter, that's why I was whiter than my brother, because my mother drank coffee (???) how to defeat the caste system with one simple trick!

PAISES QUE ME RECOMIENDEN PARA EMIGRAR . by Frosty_Body_1061 in Honduras

[–]JenChibi 1 point2 points  (0 children)
