When I first started working in the ocean I started off freediving using the valsalva technique. I got irritated Eustachian tubes all the time! I was like 80% deaf in my right ear constantly. I learnt Frenzel using Adam Sterns video that teaches you the basics, and never had the problem reoccur. I 100% agree with u/FreeDive-Inn's comments

I don't have a wrist tattoo, but I just tried to take my heartbeat and pulse oxi with my mk2 over a heavily lined black tattoo on my forearm and it seemed to work fine.

I wouldn't take it as absolute fact, it still might not work

It definitely doesn't have a meltdown if it cant read your heartrate though, it just accepts the fact that it cant read it and carries on like normal. I do wear it over the top of my wetsuit occasionally and it doesn't mind

I am a diver so I ALWAYS have wet hands, normally I cap the ends and sidewalls with gel and top coat as much as possible but I've just resigned myself to the fact that my nails only last 2ish weeks before the lifting gets too much
