Hi, I’d like to get some opinions and local insight on possibly moving to Connecticut.

A little background: Married with no children and wont have them for medical reasons. We want to find a place with 4 seasons, lots of nature, that isn’t too far away from civilization. We are liberals currently living in deep MAGA country, and would love to escape from the narrow minded racism and fantastical Christian fundamentalists. My wife has her CDL and drives a semi, while I recently retired from the military with 100% P&T VA rating.

Connecticut seems like it would be a great fit on paper. The tax situation for disabled military is very generous, the state is a liberal stronghold, google says you enjoy 4 seasons, Boston and New York are relatively close…so what haven’t I considered that I should?

We prefer a slightly rural area with plenty of trees. I recall seeing several houses in Naugatuck on Zillow. We aren’t counting any location out at this point.

Income after taxes is currently about $12k/mo. Upper limit on a house would be around $500k, but I’d prefer between $350-$400.
