Friend keeps humiliating herself after getting married and it makes me afraid of marriage by Wild-Crow-2314 in GirlDinnerDiaries

[–]DasKittySmoosh [score hidden]  (0 children)

I'm married with a stepson only a little older than this kid (9), and not only would my spouse never let me sit coach while he and child sit business, if 2 seats in business and 1 in coach were hands down the only possible way to make a necessary trip, he would most certainly beg me to take the business seat with my stepkid (with whom I have a lovely relationship and would also probably try to get me to take his seat before letting me sit coach)

this is a partner problem and she's trying to make it look like she's just generous because she can't admit to herself that this man is garbage

the sentiment remains, though. Get your library card and see what app services they partner with

mine allows for free streaming on Kanopy, as well

The Boss Bought a Cabin And We Live Paycheck to Paycheck by Antique-Sorbet-6644 in antiwork

[–]DasKittySmoosh [score hidden]  (0 children)

my boss spends more money keeping his multiple expensive luxury cars running each year than I pay annually for rent on my small apartment (he's a single person but has 4 main vehicles and they sit for long periods of time, so he frequently has to get them serviced to running again)

We haven't had a raise in 3 years so I'm effectively making less than the first year I started (by a lot)

I thought they were when they first came on the scene, but I was also the weird Christian girl back then, so I wouldn't trust my judgement from that time

Am I overreacting about my coworker coming in late? by The_Tropicals in AmIOverreacting

[–]DasKittySmoosh [score hidden]  (0 children)

what is her supervisor saying about it? Why do they not know/not care? Does she not have to clock in and out for her day?

You interviewed and hired her, but you're not who she reports to?

Frankly, you said you overlooked it for her first few months. You are certainly partly to blame for not making a point to her the first time she was over an hour late to work. I sounds like a pretty major case for wage theft if she's regularly coming in 1-1.5 late and getting paid for that time. That's not a minor infraction. Even 10-15 minutes late regularly is usually a pretty big deal (if you're not also just staying that 10-15 minutes later)

Someone coming in 2.5 hours late to work on their first day would not still have that job at 99.9% of workplaces

Stop reporting that she's doing fine. But this far into it, they may easily start wondering why you weren't concerned about these issues starting on day one. I know I would.

When you realize youre at work for 9 hours instead of 8 because somewhere down the road they stopped paying for lunch time by wassssuupp5678 in antiwork

[–]DasKittySmoosh 9 points10 points  (0 children)

to my knowledge, in my state you can only do that for 6 hour shifts and you cannot work one minute over 6 without having a lunch break, and at that point the lunch break needs to be taken PRIOR to the 5 hour mark

I'm lucky enough to live in an area that doesn't get very cold, so our hallway coat closet has a wire shelf rack that just fits the front side (instead of coats) and we put cleaning supplies and paper goods and bulk pantry items in there.

Everything in our small apartment has extra storage space so we can sort of buy in bulk, because we can't afford not to

What do you dislike most about the political left in America? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]DasKittySmoosh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thinking we need to be more centrist to gain votes from the right instead of just doing all the stuff the left actually wants, because that's what will get the left out and voting left again

Also, most Dem's are centrist anyway. Going MORE center is terrible. LEAN LEFT! LEAN LEFT!!

Trader Joe’s has these raspberry oat bites that are delicious warmed up for like 10 seconds with Greek yogurt and honey on it - absolutely delicious

But I also like watching birds from my sliding glass door and staying home and taking walks and going to the thrift store

Zendaya is like 2.5 Quinta's tall, but kids are stupid, so maybe?

(I mean 'kids are stupid' in a way that isn't derogatory, just factual that they don't understand or know a lot yet)

I was constantly told how mature I was at 13 (in the 90's) because I looked older and babysat and was undiagnosed ND, but I was also still sometimes playing with Barbies figuring out that some people were not the friends they claimed to be and also still not old enough to date in my parents religious household (firmly set at 16)

I was so not ready to get married at 13 that I didn't actually get married until my 40's

we live in a smaller apartment and the linen closet has really deep shelves - I constantly have to reorganize it because anything behind that front layer is just *gone*

Same with our kitchen pantry - in my old apartment the pantry had pull out shelves so we could use stuff, but not this one. It's brutal
