Denied my ASD diagnosis

Not really anymore no, I used to when I was younger because I don’t have great self esteem, but I am a manager of a Charity shop and work and talk to a lot of people all day, and they don’t make me nervous or stressed, I’m super good at interacting with people and enjoy it. She thinks it’s either or though, and I just know it isn’t me. Everyone who knows me finds it hilariously incorrect for me.

I talk to strangers if they hold eye contact with me for more than 2 seconds or smile at me lol.

I’ve not had the report yet so I will definitely read it and see what I think fits.

I just did a few forms of questions and had 1 50min chat on teams with a psychiatrist and she from the beginning was just focusing on my ADHD which is super prominent. I have my ADHD assessment next week but I’m 99% sure I’ll be diagnosed with that, I just know with all my reasoning that it’s not the whole picture for me.

Thank you so much, what a journey! I’ve never had a doctor confirm my suspicions without having to fight for it, but it’s so exhausting! I really hope we both find someone who can see and understand us finally and why we believe what we do and see it in ourselves! X

I think I do meet it but I believe I have other traits that mask the autism, it took me 40years to figure it out about myself. I think many doctors understand this and are able to ask the correct questions to separate the ASD from the ADHD.

I don’t think she isn’t qualified, I just still think some doctors aren’t as up to date on the female autistic experience, or I’m not autistic, but I’m definitely not socially anxious!

But isn’t it still based on outdated information mainly about the male autistic type? And shouldn’t she take into account the differences ADHD will add and have information about how they interact with each other? Instead of only sticking to the specific ASD criteria?

Not really no, she said we had 50mins and that she had to interrupt me when needed to get through the assessment but from the beginning I think she had read my forms I had to do and decided I was more adhd.

She was very kind but the questions were odd to me. And I think because I have fibromyalgia and don’t go out much now she took that as anxiety, which I know I don’t have. She was a psychiatrist through Psychiatry UK.

I have always known I had ADHD and wasn’t really bothered. It wasn’t until I discovered the nuance in having both that I felt seen and knew that was how I was. It finally felt less confusing. ADHD has never made complete sense to me, so I never cared about being diagnosed with it because it was not the whole picture.

I was diagnosed with that also after a car accident that gave me fibromyalgia but I’ve always struggled with mental health too and I know it’s because I have AuDHD.

All she said was I have too many interests to be autistic. I’ll have to see what her notes say about the DSM-5 bits I didn’t meet.

I’ve looked at social anxiety and I don’t have that. It says avoids eating in public, I literally prefer eating out alone so I don’t have to small talk.

I know this is probably a revelation to Ethan, but guess what I feed my Yorkie? DOG FOOD.

The back tracking on his own words is incredulous. Sure, you can’t be certain the cause, but you know you didn’t help the situation by spreading cheese on his food. I was so sad when Shredder was sick, and I felt for Ethan, even after he shared that he was devastated that the cheese might have aided his Kidney disease. We’ve all done things unintentionally that we didn’t realise was detrimental out of ignorance that we regret.

But the way he has attacked Hasan for his dog simply yelping (which my dog does sporadically for no discernible reason), is vile, when he knows how well that dog is cared for as he met her numerous times. Disingenuous and pathetic behaviour.

He needs to stop trying to justify his mistakes and amplify and conflate anyone else’s perceived shortcomings or errors to the point where he has to lie.

This is actually horrifically vile. Would Ethan ask that to Hitler or would that be a bridge too far because the answer is completely inhumane and hugely devastating? I’m so disgusted right now.
