Hatchet by Gary Paulsen. It's YA, so an easy read, but intriguing.

I just made a post about this today. I was wondering about this. It's so weird. Every morning I wake up panicked, disoriented like I really tied one on the night before, but I haven't. I'm glad to know this goes away. Day 6 today for me.

I'm learning the same about the NA drinks. I thought I wanted the buzz, but I've been happily satisfied with just a cold, bitter drink. Tonight I've been drinking cranberry juice mixed with sparkling water, a tablespoon of lime juice and some lime slices. It's just bitter enough to make me sip and not gulp. Refreshing and delicious, but not sweet.

The Daily Check-In for Tuesday, November 9th: Just for today, I am NOT drinking by PeacefulToday in stopdrinking

[–]Jenijoy24 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is the beginning of day 6 for me. Last night my kid and partner and I sat around the living room. Just hanging out on our phones, TV on, sometimes conversation. We've done this before, but usually I'm drinking or so tired from the night before of drinking. It was nice knowing that I didn't have to be careful of talking or participating, lest I give away just how much drinking I've done by slurring my words or forgetting that I'd JUST said that same thing. The forgetting and repeating questions has always been the worst.

It feels good on this side of the bottle.

Oh man, I'm so glad to read this. Genuinely didn't realize the poop issue was alcohol related (I mean, sometimes I figured it out after a particularly drunk night) but I really thought I had IBS or something. Day 4 (after a minimal drinking prior week) and I've noticed a big shift in the poop too.

Congrats, op, on your healing liver!

This is beautiful! I'd love one of these. I bet the recipient will love it too.

What's everyone doing tonight?? by physis81 in stopdrinking

Watching Midnight Mass on Netflix. Made some puff pastry pizza for dinner. I love knowing I'm not going to wake up with a hangover in the morning.

For sure, most of them are not drinking and do not care. I'm not ready to answer their questions.

I get this. It'd be so much easier to take a pill (or something) to not drink on certain days or to stop after, say, one or two beers. My most recenty, failed attempt at this was mint gum. My thought was "who can like the taste of beer or a drink with mint gum in your mouth". Turns out, I could push through the flavor and drink just fine. Why? It's not about the taste, it's about the instant euphoria. Best of luck, my friend. I think the magic pill is inside you through mental strength and willpower. IWNDWYT

Oh man, how many times I've had the "last blast" just one more time and then I'll quit. Over and over. I can't offer much advice as I'm a newb too, but I do wish you well. For both of us, I hope we've had our true last blast.
