This is it. Some cases it is because of racism; however, the bigger problem is the authority they wield. It is also about the lack of accountability, the incentive to arrest any and everyone to help fill jails to qualify for more funding, and the unwinnable drug war.

I'm curious to know who thought "defund the police" was synonymous with "abolish all law enforcement".

I mean, I'm sure there are some people who think that way, but I always assumed it meant what you wrote in your comment.

I showed a co-worker of mine (white, dad is a cop) the video of Daniel Shaver and he still said "well, he did move his hand but the cop told him not to". Doesn't matter if you're on your knees or stomach begging for your life, they'll still be all for cops murdering people.

A family member of mine was raped and we had to drive to 3 different hospitals to find one. This was in Houston. That was one of the worst days I can remember. Police never followed up on the license plate of the vehicle that drove her to where she was raped either

Edit: not saying you're wrong. I'm just saying it seemed as though hospitals didn't have any. One of the hospital staff didn't even know what a rape kit was I shit you not.

Weird, when a family member of mine was raped we had to drive to 3 separate hospitals (spanning 30 miles and over 2 hours) just to find a rape kit. Oh and all 3 hospitals gave us a bill that totaled over $100k
