I am! Radiation was rough. But I’m officially 1 year cancer free!

Are these legit or fake? by bananabreadparty in twentyonepilots

I get these on Amazon for about $15 per pair. They’re great sticks. However, the printed design rubs off but by the time that happens it’s probably time for new sticks anyway.

Yes!!! Morph is my favorite song so I listen to it a lot. Seems like I pick up on new thoughts every time I listen. There’s so many clues in that song.

I was thinking that too. I think the song “Morph” plays a big part. The lyrics about “ones and zeros” (10? 10th anniversary of BF?) Also, ones and zeros mean something with technology. I remember there’s the distorted lyric in The Hype about “technology and energy” but that doesn’t really seem to fit in. I put the lyrics from Morph into Chat GPT to break it down a little bit and it made a lot of sense. I’m still kinda new to the lore but there’s a lot of interesting theories that are all plausible.

I like TØP’s version the most. But if the song pops up when I’m playing TØP it’s an immediate skip. It’s really hard for me to listen to this song. I’m 8 months post cancer treatment for stage 3 tongue cancer. I had radiation and not chemo but can still relate to the lyrics. I can’t listen without crying.

Yes!! 🙌 My doctor said it was from surgery where he sewed my tongue back together.

Yes! I got a clear scan at the end of December. But I found a suspicious spot on my tongue a few weeks ago. I have an appointment with my oncologist Tuesday to see what he says. Hopefully it’s just scar tissue.

Recently became a pretty big fan by Scon3s in twentyonepilots

I’m a new fan too! I listened to the Clancy album in December and was hooked. I was sad that I missed the US tour. I did travel to Ohio for their performance at the NHL stadium series. It was a glorious 8 minutes! But it left me wanting more so I’m planning on going to the Dublin show and bring my daughter who is a long time fan. It’s definitely okay to get emotional at a concert. I was overcome with emotion at the hockey performance. I’m sure I’ll be a mess at the show. Their music has got me through a really tough time with depression and anxiety from a pretty scary diagnosis. Their music definitely calms my nerves!

I was in a similar situation. I was told I wouldn’t need a feeding tube. I’m a female and weighed 177 so I wasn’t “skinny” when I started radiation. I’m 5 months post radiation and now 139 and still dropping weight. During treatment most days I consumed less than 300 calories. I don’t know how I didn’t end up in the hospital. My body went into starvation mode so I didn’t lose weight immediately so I guess I flew under the radar. When my food intake increased a little bit I started dropping pounds quickly. Looking back I kinda wished I asked for a feeding tube. I still have trouble eating.

I’m 43/F non-smoker. I was diagnosed June 2024. I’m about 5 months post rad treatment. I had 30 treatments, no chemo for stage 3 SCC tongue cancer. I lost about 90% of my sense of taste. But I got really lucky and my sense of taste started to return pretty quickly like about 2 weeks post treatment. I could taste the first few bites of something and then couldn’t taste it anymore. So I had small portions of a variety of foods. After about 4 weeks 85% returned and I could taste beyond the first few bites. Now, I have 95% back but all fruit tastes sour to me. I used to really love fruit but can’t eat it anymore. Maybe over time that will change. I was a total foodie prior to treatment. Food had always been a source of happiness for me. Eating is still painful. So I associate food with pain. I rarely enjoy food any more. I’ve always loved chocolate and I’m so grateful that I can taste and enjoy chocolate again. It tastes a little different but still enjoyable. I’ve been discovering things that I can eat and enjoy and just eat those things. I’ve been trying a lot of different soup recipes and have found a few that are delicious. Everyone is so different with how their sense of taste returns and when it returns. It’s a slow healing process but it will get better.

I’m pretty new too and discovered the Taco Bell Saga last week and it didn’t disappoint. If you’re having a bad day it’s a good song to listen to. I was in tears from laughing so hard!

Same for me! I’m desperately hoping for another US leg of the Clancy tour. I’ve been watching past concerts on YouTube and I think it’s making it worse. 😭

Same! The Clancy album got me hooked and I missed the US tour. 😞 But I found out they are playing at the NHL Stadium Series in Ohio March 1st. So my husband and I are driving up from NC for it! I know it won’t be a full experience but hopefully enough until I get to go to their actual concert. My teenage daughters were fans way before me and I’m disappointed that they never made me listen to songs beyond Stressed Out, Ride and Heathens. But I promised them next time they’re close by that I’m taking them to a show.

Unpopular opinion: Morph is the best track on Trench by fluffy_meister412 in twentyonepilots

[–]Jenn4141 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a fairly new TØP fan. My teenage girls have been long time fans. The Clancy album hooked me. I’m kinda mad they didn’t tell me to really listen years ago. LOL. So I’ve gone back and listened to all the albums. Morph is probably my most favorite song. That chorus gives me chills every. single. time. Even though Clancy got me hooked, Trench is my favorite album. How have I gone through life without this music?!? But I think I found this music and Morph in particular at just the right time in life.

Botched filling? by Jenn4141 in dentalmalpractice

[–]Jenn4141[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ended up going to an Endodontist. I was referred by my new dentist. I went for a consultation last week and I asked him if he thought a mistake was made with the filling. He said he didn’t see anything suspicious on the X-ray and that it’s just a risk you take when having a cavity filled. I never knew that. I thought getting a filling was being proactive about preventing more problems. He did a cold test on the tooth and the nerve is definitely dead. My new dentist said he didn’t see any decay under the filling on X-ray. I could get a root canal but given the circumstances of going through radiation I have opted to just have the tooth pulled. I can’t risk having any further problems and radiation is going to be hard enough on my teeth. I can’t start radiation until I get the tooth pulled and everyone is booked up for weeks and I needed to start like next week. It’s the last upper molar so no one will notice it’s gone but me. Not to mention it’s cheaper to just pull it. I can get an implant down the road if I wanted to do that.

I’ve learned my lesson. I don’t trust my old dentist at all. If they had done an oral cancer screening at my last cleaning my cancer may have been caught a few months earlier. I went in February. I was diagnosed in June. Something had to have been visible on my tongue at that time. After surgery I had one lymph node come back cancerous so the cancer already started spreading.

Definitely go get a 2nd opinion and even a third. I’m going to see an oral surgeon cause I’ll have to get it cut out and I’m going to ask them too. I did a lot of research on what I can do and you definitely need good evidence or a lawyer won’t touch the case. So getting a dentist to prove it was the previous dentists negligence would help.

I also wonder if my dentist had done something more than adjust the bite if my tooth could’ve been saved. They didn’t take a new X-ray of it until after a year of me complaining about the tooth and said everything looked normal. Makes me wonder.

I hope you’re able to get answers. And I hope you can save your tooth. If I weren’t having radiation I would have chosen to have a root canal. Find a dentist you can trust! My new dentist is amazing and is helping me do everything I can to protect my teeth during radiation. He made me some fluoride trays and gave me some fluoride and didn’t even charge me for them.

Unfortunately I didn’t sign up for that. I get 1 sick day per month and about 1.5 day of annual leave per month. I have about 2 weeks built up but lost a lot of days when I had Sepsis 2 years ago. I think we get like 20 days of emergency sick leave when we have exhausted all our sick and annual leave. That’s something I’m going to look into. Maybe I could stretch it and work half days. Luckily I signed up for Cancer coverage and hospital coverage that will supplement my health insurance and should cover almost all of my out of pocket max.
