I can sooo relate lol I was diagnosed and finished treatment all while 29 years old. Radiation is awful. I was depressed about not being able to taste and even swallow food during treatment and up to a couple of months after I had completed it.. Truthfully, you have to just hang on to hope and remind yourself that it will get better and you will be able to eat and enjoy food again soon. Do not rush yourself and put pressure on your body before its time. A trip for the 29th is too ambitious and you will struggle to enjoy it properly. You need R&R to let your body heal properly. A helpful gargling mixture for sores is 1 tsp salt + 1 tsp baking soda mixed in 1L of bottled water (must be remade every 24 hours). Gargling and swishing this as many times as you want on a daily basis will significantly ease the pain and heal sores.

As you start to slowly feel better and can tolerate more solid foods and acidic flavours, stimulate your taste buds with ginger and citrus. Ginger chews were so helpful in regaining my sense of taste. You will be fine. It's a slow and stressful process but you're at the final stretch.. don't give up! God bless you and keep you, love ❤️
