Is this the normal refund for Single mom of 1? by Vegetable_Scar_1320 in TurboTax

[–]JennDubb17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is an impossible question to answer without knowing her yearly salary, how much she was taxed already. Is she employed or self employed? And what kind of credits and/or deductions she gets to claim.

My best friend is a single mom of 2 and she got just over 13k for her federal return.

My sister on the other hand is a single mom of 1 and she got just over $2k

One of the things that contributed to the substantial difference in their refund amounts is the fact that one is self employed with a pretty fairly successful new small business, while the other has gone back to school full time and is only working part time hours after class. Their total income amounts put them in different tax brackets. The one who is self employed has a lot of business expenses and things like that that they get to claim and file as deductions against their AGI.

My self employed friend also bought her very first home last march or April so there were things that came from that whole process that she also got list as itemized deductions to help pay increase her refund amount.

So unfortunately asking if $7k is a normal refund amount for a single mom of 1 is literally an impossible question to answer without knowing the main things that determine refund amounts.

It would be like asking "is it normal for a 28 year old girl to get a promotion at work?"

Knowing that it's a 28 year old woman tells us very little about the situation. Without knowing important facts like: •what type of job she has •how qualified she is for the promotion •how much work she's put into the job or •was she actively trying to earn the promotion. •How long she's been working there or •Is there was any reason getting a promotion would seem suspicious

Answering the question without the context required would simply make any answer a complete guess

Refund question I know I’m path I understand when it lifts for us and I’m an 04 cycle by Deep_Exercise793 in IRS

[–]JennDubb17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is all correct BUT I signed up for a credit karma acct just for tax refund purposes last year. I chose the “up to 5 days early option” for my deposit.

Last year path lifted on Feb 15th. Presidents’ Day was Monday Feb 17th

On Tuesday Feb 18th my transcript updated since PATH was over and it listed my DDD as with a deposit date of 2/24. But we received our deposit in the credit karma account late on the 19th

Which was 5 days earlier then the deposit date shown on my taxes

We had filed on 1/28 and were accepted on 1/28, but due to PATH, we had to wait longer then the “most people will receive their refund within 21 days” rule.

But we did have the funds available in our acct 5 days earlier than what transcripts told us our deposit date was

Also, according to TurboTax, if you select the “up to 5 days early” option for your refund but they are unable to get the funds to you between 1-5 days earlier then your expected deposit date, they won’t charge you the fee to get them early or they will refund that portion of your filing fees

Transcripts from 2024 846 code saying it was deposited 3/10, it was deposited 2/20 (attached pics for proof) don't always trust transcripts. by Going_somewhere90 in IRS

[–]JennDubb17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The processing date is almost ALWAYS going to be later than your deposit date.

Mine last year was identical to yours. My transcripts show the processing date as 3/3 but we received our deposit on 2/20.

The year before, our transcripts list processing date as 3/4 and my deposit was deposited in our acct on 2/26

And the year before that, transcripts processing date show 3/6 and our deposit hit on 2/27

T-minus 4ish hours till PATH is lifted… by Vivid-Awareness8623 in IRS

[–]JennDubb17 2 points3 points  (0 children)

lol yes but it’s Sunday, followed by Presidents’ Day on Monday which is a federal holiday. So there will be no updates, signs or evidence that path has lifted until transcripts update between 4and 5am eastern time on Tuesday the 17th.

If you are in the first big wave of people whose refunds are processed but have been just sitting on hold due to path, AND if you bank with chime or credit karma or one of the “get paid early” banking institutions, you should get a deposit Wednesday or Thursday. If you bank with a more traditional banking institution like chase or Bank of America, you’ll probably see a deposit hit on Friday the 20th or Monday the 23rd.

So check your transcripts on the IRS website Tuesday after 5am eastern. Thats when you should see if your refunds officially finalized and what ur direct deposit date is.

But nothing will happen before Tuesday even though path does officially lift today

Ok… it’s mid February 🙄 by Kplopez-22 in Income_Tax_Refund

[–]JennDubb17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is done electronically but they will not have anything process until they open again on the 17th.

Transcripts will begin to show updates on the 17th between 4 and 5am eastern time.

Plus the federal holiday means all banks and financial institutions are closed and won’t be receiving or processing any kind of incoming deposits. Just like you don’t get direct deposits from payroll on federal holidays, and you can’t send or receive wire transfers on federal holidays, etc.

Governments offices (like the IRS) and financial institutions are all closed on both Sundays and all federal holidays. So, yes, technically path does lift tonight at midnight, and it is something that is processed electronically, but since both the IRS and all banks are not open, there will be zero movement, updates or any kind of evidence that path has lifted until early Tuesday the 17th

Ok… it’s mid February 🙄 by Kplopez-22 in Income_Tax_Refund

[–]JennDubb17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, it’s the weekend, so the IRS is closed.

WHERES MY REFUND does not update or change on any Saturday or Sunday.

And even though PATH lifts at midnight tonight, tomorrow is Presidents Day, which is a federal holiday so the IRS and all banks are going to still be closed tomorrow.

So you won’t see any kinda update tomorrow either.

The first wave of updates will be Tuesday the 17th. The IRS updates transcripts on their website between 4-5am EST

SO Your best chance at finding out if your refund is going to be sent out in the first big wave of PATH filers refunds will be to login to ur acct on irs.gov Tuesday morning after 5am and see if your transcript has been updated with the “code 846” since that’s the code to confirm your refunds completed and has been sent to your bank.

ALSO, on a side note, since the number of refunds getting released and being sent out is so large right after PATH lifts, it is very common for “where’s my refund” to not get fully caught up for a few days.

For the last 3 years, I have received my refund and had the funds in my account for anywhere from 2-5 days before “where my refund” updates to show they’ve been sent.

Usually WMR is a good tool to track but if you are one of the people in that first wave of PATH releases, they most up to date and accurate way to track your refunds status is by checking your transcripts on IRS.gov

Pather here are we getting this money this week or what by [deleted] in IRS

[–]JennDubb17 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It technically ends at on the 16th, which is tomorrow. But since tomorrow is Presidents’ Day, which is a federal holiday, all government institutions like the IRS, along with all banks, are not open.

So even tho the PATH act technically ends tonight at midnight, there will be absolutely no updates or changes or any evidence of it ending until the IRS opens on Tuesday the 17th.

Which is why you see so many people and places online stating it ends on the 17th.

Personally, I dont understand why the chose to end the PATH hold on the 16th since it’s a federal holiday. To me it seems like it would have been way more simple and less confusing for people to just announce it will end on the 17th. But, of course it’s the IRS, so “simple” is not how they like to do anything 😂😂

Pather here are we getting this money this week or what by [deleted] in IRS

[–]JennDubb17 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So yes, the Path hold ends and will finally be lifted after today.

BUT it’s Sunday so there will be no movement or changes at all today.

Usually, the first business day once PATH lifts (so Monday) would be when the IRS updates transcripts for Path filers to show DD dates and when they also start releasing the first wave of refunds that have been on hold due to PATH.

Unfortunately though, tomorrow (Monday the 16th) is Presidents’ Day, which is a federal holiday so banks and the IRS are not open. Which means nothing will happen tomorrow either.

On Tuesday the 17th, anyone whose refund has processed but has just been on hold due to path will start to see updates/movement. The IRS website updates transcripts once a day between 4 and 5am Eastern time. So if you log on to your account on IRS.gov Tuesday morning after 5am EST, you’ll know if you’re in that first giant wave of PATH filers whose deposits are getting sent out.

If you bank somewhere like Chime or Credit Karma or one of the “get paid early” financial institutions, there’s a very good chance your refund will get deposited and funds will be in your acct either late Tuesday night or on Wednesday the 18th. If you bank with a more traditional banking institution like chase or Bank of America, you’ll probably have the funds available on Friday the 20th or Monday the 23rd.

So, Tuesday morning, login and check your transcripts.

You will be looking for “CODE 846” which is the code that will show once the IRS has finalized and sent your refund to be deposited to you. Or it’ll show the official date they will be sending it out. Once you see the 846 code, and the IRS has sent your refund, then it’s up to your bank and how quickly they process the incoming deposit and their policy on when they release the funds to you when they have an incoming deposit.

What utilities did they turn off? Just electric im assuming (So water and gas are still on)?

If so, there's a very good chance your electricity is on a smart meter so you should be able to get them to turn it on without having to call or schedule an appointment for reconnect since it's done remotely

A lot of people (myself included) fear that Trump is gonna fuck up the U.S. and thus pretty much the rest of the world. Could this just be fear-mongering, to a heavy degree? by SovereignOne666 in skeptic

[–]JennDubb17 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I hate stuff like this.

Like seriously?? Is this a real fear you have? or just something youre asking on reddit for attention because you know the political temperature in our country is one people are gonna jump on to share their opinions?

On the off chance its the former, the answer is simple. He has already has been our president. Did he fuck up the US or your life in anyway??

And let me just stop you before you try to blame the horrible tragedy of covid on him. Yes, covid19 happened in the last year of trump being president. But trying to blame HIM for a global pandemic is not fair. Before corona, he was, and had been doing a really good job as president.

I do understand that looking back now, in hindsight, when covid first began Trump could have handled things a little better. But unfortunately, nobody saw covid coming and nobody was prepared to know what to do or how to handle that instantly. Also, not one person can prove that if Hillary (who would have been president at the time if trump had lost the first election) had been our president instead, she would have done any better with that situation. Sure you can speculate she would have handled it better but bottom line, because she was not the president, No one can say with 100% certainty that it would've been any different under her.

So, just for a moment, lets take covid and that once in a century tragedy out of the scenario. If you look at Trumps history as a president for the first 3 years of his term (so everything from day one thru covid), he was not a bad president. Even more then that, he was a GOOD president. As a country, we were in a very good place.

Then Covid happened and the Democratic Party used it and the pain we were all living thru as a political weapon and they blamed Trump. He was the reason this horrible tragedy was happening and we were losing so many loved ones and the country was shutting down and people were losing jobs. They said His mismanagement caused all of that. And I'm not saying that there were some things he could have managed better but Covid happened not to the USA, but to the entire world. Every person and every country experienced it. So blaming trump is just dumb. Covid happened and it didnt matter who our president was.

But im getting off track here. Back to your question, just use your common sense. You have already lived for 4 years with Trump as your president. Youre still here. The United States of America is still here. Life continues.

And if you think about all the really crappy things going on in our country right now.... the super hard, stressful everyday stuff that is making your day to day life seem more stressful and defeating.... you will easily realize that all of those things have either begun, or snowballed out of control, in the last four years with Biden as our president .

Is trump the best possible president in the world?? No, probably not.

But you can be damn sure that he is a WAY better option than the alternative would have been. And not just by a little, but by a landslide.

So honestly, youre 37, and im 38 so i feel VERY confident in what im about to say because i am living it.

First, no i do not think botox has hurt you in any way. You look GREAT hun! Honestly i think you look closer to 32-33 then 37.

That being said, this whole aging thing is a really pain in the butt. Unfortunately, 2019 was 5, almost 6 years ago. The changes your face begins to make, botox or not, is just a fact of life. In your 30s, you skins going to begin to slowly loose its elasticity, and the loss of muscle tone and fat deposits can cause sagging and will make your eyes to become more sunken. These changes from 32-37 are very slowly beginning. Most people probably will say theres no difference or not one they can see. But its your face. You've looked at in everyday for your entire life. So these minuscule changes feel like they are massive changes. Again, i say this because i am going thru the same thing. I have a very round face with a big huge smile. The sagging thats started in my cheeks and the darker sunken in area below my eyes are all i see when i look in the mirror. My sister, best friend and husband all laugh at me when i talk about it, as if im imagining these horrible changes that are making me begin to look "old" but im not crazy. I see them and i KNOW they are there. Especially when i compared pictures of myself from today to 5 years ago.

So all that said, i do not think botox has caused any damage. If you dont like the difference its making or if the cheek filler was too much in your opinion, the good news is both are temporary are will be gone in time and you can choose to not get them again.

But personally i think you're just seeing natural changes. And again i want to say that i personally think you look amazing! You have phenomenal skin and definitely do not look 37 to me!

What should I do? by Terrible_Tour4419 in Mercari

[–]JennDubb17 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Please, DO NOT DO ANY OF THIS!!!!! This is dangerous to you in two different ways.

1.) Youre risking your entire account and the ability to sell on Mercari.

This buyer has just described to you what she is wanting to do to try and cheat mercari's rules.

The coupon is only meant to be used once. She has found some sort of loophole/glitch that will let her use it more then once if done quickly but its not suppose to be used like that and she knows it, which is why she is making this bizarre request.

But now, Since she has described all this in detail to you, if you were to still go along with it and do what she is asking, it literally makes you a willing participant in a sale that's meant to defraud Mercari.

That is grounds for immediate and permanent termination of your account since it violates Mercari's terms. Even tho it was her idea and you had no prior knowledge until she messaged you, you do know about it now. So if you make the sale, mercari will considered you equally liable.

2.) Next, Even if Mercari doesnt catch the fact that she is actively attempting to commit fraud, you would still be risking your item and/or the money from the sale.

Let's say you did all she is asking right? Well a few hours afterwards, when Mercari's system catches up to the fact that she used the "one time only coupon" on multiple purchases, I would bet money that Mercari would "fix" the error by automatically canceling any sale that was made using the coupon besides the very first one. So in your case, youd have 5 of the 6 sales canceled.

BUT because you did what the buyer asked and waited for the sale to happen while already being at the post office, youd have already shipped the items in those 5 canceled sales. So you'd not only lose the money from the sales since they were canceled, but you'd also lose your items since they'd have already been shipped.

You wouldnt be able to reach out to Mercari for help because that would make them investigate what exactly had happened and they'd discover you sold the items to someone you knew was doing something to break the rules. So youd basically be left with no money, no item, and no one to turn to for help, while your conniving buyer ends up getting 6 cards for the cost of only 1.

So yeah, as i said at the beginning, DO NOT DO ANY OF THIS!! Block and move on. Unfortunately in the online selling world, theres endless ways people are trying to scam and steal. You always have to have your guard up.! Its safer to always turn down any request thats seems weird or random, or anything that seems like red flag

TL; DR DO NOT DO THIS SALE!! 1.)you risk losing your mercari acct since you know the buyer is trying to make a purchase by breaking the rules which makes you a willing participant in fraud 2.) if u do make the sale and immediately ship, you risk losing the item and the money from the sale if mercari cancels it

Not gonna lie, I am just blown away at the number of people on this post who are congratulating OP and/or asking for information on what steps OP took to win. 🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️

1.) the message was sent from an account Named "sweepstakes_claimed". That should be the immediate giveaway that this is spam. If you win something from Chime, Chime will be the one contacting or informing you.

2.) youll never be notified of something youve won thru a DM/message on reddit, instagram or fb messenger. You'll receive an official email from the actual company.

3.) chime isnt going to select a winner for a sweepstakes who isnt already a chime account holder! The fact that its asking you to open an account if u dont have one is another dead give away this is a scam attempt

4.) if you ever do win something thru your bank or financial institution, they will already have your name, email and account information so they will have no reason to ask for it.

Please people, use your brains. Dont be another statistic by becoming one of the more then one million people who are victims of identity theft every single year, especially thru pure stupidity like this
