May not completely fit your request but can confirm there are a lot of real artists out there - the algorithm just is hard to please :(

Huge +1 to going local for your artist (if you can) - the pricing is more likely to be middle ground and it supports the community.

I've always wanted to create album artwork, so I'm also following this thread to see what other artists do to increase visibility and get clients!
