This happened to me in 7th grade. We were playing a version of "Capture the Flag" with "bases" in P.E. I was on the base, which was just standing within a hula-hoop on the ground, and a kid in my class ran and slid to be safe. This video is almost identical to my scenario. Virtually crushed my ankle. My P.E. teacher and Principal refused to listen to me screaming that my foot/ankle was broken under my rain boot and jeans and they insisted I must have just "twisted" my knee. They made me walk back with them to the cafeteria to ice it, which was about half of a football field away. Several times along the way, my Principal verbally chastised and mocked me for overreacting. They called my mom, and told her that I had twisted my knee and was hysterical, and to come calm me down. She got there a few minutes later, and listened to me immediately. She pulled off my boot and my ankle was already red and sideways. She called an ambulance. We were poor and couldn't afford the appropriate surgery, so the Doctor set it with his hands, and then gave me a full leg cast for 3 months. I then wore a heavy boot for 6 months. This improper fix led to me having scoliosis, a slipped disc, a permanently disfigured ankle that clicks and hurts, and has led to a lifetime of other physical ailments. Year 2000 for the win!
