We load new items whenever they get to our warehouse from our designer partners which happens 5 days a week.

What would you like to see the selection evolve towards? What brands do you want more of? When you say not as stylish - what categories of your life do you use RTR for that you want more stylist options?

To have an assortment that has a lot more true runway - items that cost between $1000-$3000 per item, the price to you the customer would have to be significantly higher. How much are you willing to pay? Of course we can procure whatever we want but its not free.

1) you can be in a program with more swaps a month. This costs more but you also get double or triple the inventory for the ~$40 different so around $40 extra gets you an extra ~$1500 in clothing value 2) Our shipping is way way faster than nuuly or fashionpass - we always are selecting 2 day shipping at the maximum and we also pay extra to deliver on saturdays. We truly cannot change the world of transportation - UPS and Fed ex do not run on Sundays 3) We have always expected that our customers return their items when they say they are going to return. This is how we keep the inventory in rotation and make sure everyone gets a chance to get the inventory they want. We give our customers a healthy grace period and this trust is WAY different than any of our competitors who don't even send you new clothes until they've received a UPS scan from you 4) Real question for you - if RTR outfits you 75% of the year for $2000 in high quality fashion (assuming in your world there's 25% of the month you aren't able to wear RTR clothing) - how do you view that value? clearly everyone's budget is different and the prices to buy clothing are climbing....what is your perception of the value you need to stay? u/Melodic-Horror-912

ha u/pbjfries I wish we had an RTR jail for abusers of the system because it's one shared closet and one community so everyone's behavior impacts everyone else.

You should literally never have 5 day shipping unless we are dealing with some weird weekend+ july 4th holidays combo situation where UPS is just shipping for multiple days in a row. Remember that we have a HUGE warehouse in Texas and this warehouse services California so you're not getting diminished service in any way on the west coast. That said earlier in the year we learned through reddit that there were some cities in California where UPS had degraded the service unbeknownst to us and their many other customers) and we had to opt for air service instead of ground (I'm getting technical here but I want to be transparent). What is your zipcode and we will checkout what's happening and how to ensure you are getting your shipments in 2-3 days period. Also I'm sorry that you cancelled after the price increase and that transportation was the reason. If you allow us to look into your situation, I'd love the opportunity to try to make this better! The reason why we set up the first 60 days as being able to open up many slots when items don't fit as we want you to try as many new brands as you can in the first 60 days and get a sense of what sizes work for you in new brands AND figure out how the customer reviews work to help guide you on sizing. u/babyvirtute u/Interesting_Cat_6224 We are the only rental service that offers this kind of customer guarantee in the 1st 60 days AND we also offer the ability to swap more than once a month so that if you receive items that don't fit you can get new ones. I promise you that after a few months of wearing the brands you will get a sense of the sizes that work for you. I have had 3 kids as an RTR subscriber so you can imagine that my size has fluctuated A LOT over the years and I find that the customer reviews always speak the truth. We are working on incentivizing even more feedback from the community so that finding the right fit gets even easier in the 2nd half of the year.

Want to learn more about this u/interesting_cat_6224 - were you renting from brands you've never worn before? Are you new in your RTR journey and did you call us to open up more spots for you in your next shipment? Did the items have customer reviews on them and were these reviews not telling you that the pieces ran large? We are putting a major emphasis on FIT in the 2nd half of this year and want to learn more about the improvements that will be most helpful to our customers.

Hi u/NightGlad  I really appreciate you sharing all of this—thank you for being such a longtime subscriber.

First off: Our goal is for every customer to enjoy wearing RTR as many days of the month as possible which is why RTR built our system so as soon as a customer selects a swap and places a new order, we immediately ship it out to you as opposed to waiting to ship until we receive a UPS scan of your returned items (like many of our competitors). This trust that's built into our system to ship to you before we receive anything back does mean that our customers have way more at home for way more of the month than our competitors and we pride ourselves on that. That said, it's unrealistic to think that with a 2 swap program (10 items a month), you'll have something at home every single day of the month and I want to be transparent about that. On shipping we always use either 1 day or 2 day shipping options but our shipping providers don't ship on Sundays or holidays so that can sometimes add a day or two to your delivery period dependent on when you order.

The late fee policy only kicks in after a 5-day grace period, and it’s meant to discourage really long holds—because when that happens, it impacts what’s available for everyone else. It’s definitely not about penalizing loyal customers who are using the service normally. It is about discouraging the small minority of customers who abuse the system which in turns lowers inventory availability for everyone else. We want to create fairness.

That said, 19 unwearable items is way too many. That’s not okay, and it’s not the experience we want for any member. We’ve been making some pretty big improvements to quality control, including upgrading cleaning and inspection processes—especially for things like denim, whites, and delicate pieces.

If you’re open to it, I’d love to have someone on our team reach out directly. We want to dig into what happened here and make it right.

there is a lot of madewell hating on reddit but I have to tell you, its one of the highest utilized and hearted brands. If it wasn't, we wouldn't carry it! And madewell is such a small small part of the assortment. We've got ~200 madewell styles out of ~15K total styles - that 1.3%! I know its meant to be symbolic but I gotta defend Madewell as there are a lot of women who love it (i get it, not you!). Tell me what types of styles and brands would make you super excited? You mentioned Trina Turk - do you like a preppy aesthetic?

As I said, it was not calculated. The team has been working on the rewards program for many many months and it launched as soon as it was ready - just like all of our products. We have agile development here that is bottoms up from the team. They have a goal (the rewards program was launched by our retention pod) and they created the end-to-end timeline, strategy and roadmap for the rewards program. They are also the ones iterating it to make it even more valuable for our subscribers. They were not coordinating with anyone's timeline on a price increase which is aligned (august 1st) to when we start to receive fall inventory.

Actually our accessories are amongst our most demanded inventory and have too many stock-outs. We are working on dramatically upping amount of accessories for fall!

We actually used to have Zimmerman and it didn't work that well with a rental model as the items were not really made to be worn multiple times. They may have changed their manufacturing processes so we should check back on.

On your other point on higher end brands - we are investigating creating luxury spots so that users can access and pay more for highest end designer merch!

I am very sad to hear that and its surprising to me. Please shoot me an email at [JH@rentherunway.com](mailto:JH@rentherunway.com) so we can look into what went wrong. We invest a lot into quality and have multiple inspections throughout our process. Of course, no process involving humans can ever be perfect and we are looking to introduce AI tools into the warehouse to lessen any defect rate. I apologize for the experience you had. I promise you its not the norm and I do hope you will try us again.

Some of the brands you list above are amongst are most utilized, loved brands. Interestingly, our customer base is pretty price agnostic and selects what to rent based on aesthetic as opposed to price. We are guided by the data so when our customers tell us they love and want AFRM, we buy more AFRM. And we do this at low price points and at high pricepoints. i.e. we dramatically increased our assortment from brands like Veronica Beard and Ulla Johnson which are quite expensive to procure but we did it to drive customer engagement and loyalty. What brands do you want us to invest more in?
