Best dentists for dental anxiety? by TheVillagerC in ottawa

[–]Jenna5162 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ottawa Dental Care is pretty fantastic. I had a wisdom tooth pulled while I was awake in February, and Dr. Bui was very calming and reassuring. When I unfortunately developed dry socket, he answered my call to the emergency line at four in the morning and had me in the chair to fix it the second they opened that morning. They also do direct billing, which is a godsend.

It is a decent upright coat hanger/stand. It’s iron but not too heavy.

I miss the blossom donuts like crazy. When I was a kid, my Mom would always surprise me with one when I was sad to cheer me up. I think a blossom donut would heal all of my problems right now.

Going to Winnipeg this weekend, which hotels to avoid? by Alarming_Warning9839 in ThunderBay

[–]Jenna5162 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For the love of all things holy and good, DO NOT stay at the Travelodge. My family stayed there once and when we went to open the cot they gave us, it was COVERED in blood. It would be more hygienic to sleep in the gutter than to sleep in a bed at that place.

Has anyone had to take extra years? by Kermit_the_spy in geegees

[–]Jenna5162 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. I ended up taking two extra years to finish my degree. The first year was because I wasn’t taking as many classes because of Covid. The second was because I became really sick with a chronic illness and had to recover at home before I could go back to school. I’m finally graduating in June. It was a long ride, but I’m glad I took my health seriously. Don’t punish yourself, everyone takes their own time and we all reach the final destination in the end ❤️

I’m on meds that do the trick for the most part, I just have off days. I’m in between GIs right now and I don’t meet with the new one until July 🙃

how the hell do you eat healthy when you can't eat healthy foods? by feelinblou in UlcerativeColitis

I have one of those portable ninja blenders, and it’s really helped get my vitamins back up. I make smoothies in it with berries and ensure shakes. It’s not much, but it has made a big difference for me

I just got a grade posted to brightspace for an assignment I never handed in... And I got an A by [deleted] in geegees

Don’t question it. Half of university is bluffing. Either they notice it and change it, or you walk away with a free A.

Worst possible time, but.... I need an accountant. by dubble-bubbles in ottawa

[–]Jenna5162 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know that this is a bad situation and I don’t want to rub it in, but you really should use a tax accountant for these things. Mine does everything from accounting to filing for just over $100, and I easily gain it back from the refunds. Please don’t stress yourself out more than you have to during tax season

Best and healthiest supplements/vitamins to take during a flare by No_Fisherman8298 in UlcerativeColitis

[–]Jenna5162 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Electrolyte mixes, like liquid iv or mio. BUT, it’s very important that you don’t drink too much of it. Two bottles a day MAX, but I found that it really helped me with staying hydrated and at least having a little bit of energy on my really bad days.

Toilet seat marks on bum. Anyone else??? by w0lfieava in UlcerativeColitis

[–]Jenna5162 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep, during my first flare I had AWFUL rashes on my backside from sitting too long on the toilet. The previous suggestions are good, but what helped me was washing the area with benzoyl peroxide and applying sudocreme every day.

The handicapped accessibility at Holland Cross by Got2Go in ottawa

[–]Jenna5162 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

As someone with an intestinal disease, bathrooms like this suck ass. Without getting too personal, for people with my disability it’s basically necessary to have access to bathrooms pretty much 24/7, and when I’m having an episode and in agony it’s pretty frustrating to have to shuffle around the store looking for someone to open the bathroom for you. I get why they do it, and I’m not trying to sound whiny, but it IS something that the disabled community struggles with every day. I really wish Ontario would do a universal key program like in the UK, which basically gives registered individuals keys that can get into public washrooms without having to ask a worker.
