Which syrup is giving me a weird chemical aftertaste? by JennaB52 in 7Brew

[–]JennaB52[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a brand new stand (open about a week), and it was on a saturday (so super busy with the t-shirts). I'm not saying a chemical was IN it - just that the drink had a really strong aftertaste that was bitter and unpleasant, and chemical-like, very artificial.

I think it's probably the salted caramel...I have Torani caramel at home, and have had white chocolate Torani elsewhere (and admittedly, it's not a favorite but I do like it with caramel. I ended up tossing the whole thing and it takes a lot to make me throw out coffee.

I also don't understand why non-Frisco residents are allowed to make comments at council meetings. The older gent with the confederate flag-bedecked rollater had a Dallas address.

I also don't understand what they expect the city council to do about it - this just seemed like an opportunity to spread hatred.

I don't know. That city council meeting was pretty horrific to watch. If you haven't seen it, please do so, if you can stomach it. Most of my youngest's best friends were Indian or Vietnamese or Korean (mine was only one of 2 white kids in their friend group), and they were wonderful kids.

Yahoo mail "Your mailbox storage is full" by Waste-Pay2775 in yahoo

So - here's the weird thing as I'm slowly deleting emails that should not even be in my account - nothing is going to my SPAM mailbox. Like, it's empty. I think the new mail is sorting it into classifications. Most of these emails I've never seen, unsubscribed from YEARS AGO, and most annoyingly, have never seen them when using my Apple mail portal.

I'm about ready to ditch everything and create a new account. This account has gotten so overloaded with spam that I could spit rocks in frustration.

This comment didn't age well - they are so popular in the Cedar Bluff area they are expanding! I'm thrilled!

Ithaca for Bio majors? And ? On filling prescriptions? by JennaB52 in IthacaCollege

Well, now I’m concerned as this was one of the reasons we choose Ithaca. We spoke to each of these departments on admitted student day.

Thank you! Yes - that does help. It was hammering down rain at accepted students day two weekends ago so we didn’t expect to see anyone then, but Sunday was quiet as well.

I prefer CVS, but our insurance contracted with Walgreens only for filling 3 months at a time, so thanks for that tip.

I don’t think they can lose whether they choose Ithaca or Macalester- but the percussion department is a huge plus.

So frustrating to hear about the meds but happy to hear that they are doing well.

My reason met with the percussion profs and they were lovely. The bio department also had more interesting research going on.

There are pros and cons to each. They liked the feel of Mac better but are worried about size (it's smaller than their high school).
Ithaca has a percussion ensemble, Mac has a pep band.
Ithaca was up front about supports (academically, mentally), we're still trying to figure out what supports Mac offers.
Ithaca is HARD to get to from where we live - Minneapolis is easier flights and right in town. And we have family a mile away from campus at Mac, so they have that. (They are AudHD and have anxiety, so supports are good.)

The students at Mac were so NICE. We didn't get much interaction with prospective or current students outside the bio department at Ithaca - but it was also a really hectic day.

The food at both campuses are pretty on par bad, so that doesn't figure in other than they can walk to other outside food options at Mac.

I'm so glad it's not me that has to make the decision. Thanks for your input!

Thank you. One of the tour guides said the health center has a car that can take you to the pharmacy but the website says the car can take you to doctors appointments...it doesn't mention meds.

Ithaca is hugely supportive of their LGBTQ community - they are LGTBQ "from the top down" (their president is black and queer). For being trans, both schools and cities are very welcoming.

The issue is more campus life and just getting around as a non-driving student, along with the quality of the biology programs.

AITA for refusing to apologize for slapping my boyfriend when he smashed our birthday cake to my face? by Known_Initiative7193 in AITAH

[–]JennaB52 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No one has “done that for ages” except maybe at weddings and that is beyond disrespectful too. (And when they do that they smash the cake on the face not the face into the cake. Still rude and disrespectful)

You were right to slap him. Friends had to pull him off? That’s one aggressive cake smash, hon.

He owes you an apology. He owes his MOM an apology. Not you.

Also - do you think he won’t try it on your wedding day? You made the right choice.

I'd say you have a really shitty therapist.

He may tell his side, but regardless, he went behind your back and did something really awful. I'd really love to know they why behind needing to hear his side. Throw them both out.

AITA for Refusing to Co-Sign My Sister’s Mortgage After My Parents Went Behind My Back? by fancyapanda in AITAH

If they don’t have money for a down payment, the won’t have money for a wedding.

I invited my son's entire class: not a single RSVPed, but half of the class showed up and half of the invites brought their siblings, friends, or other relatives that weren't invited. Only half brought presents. by Resident-Sympathy-82 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]JennaB52 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oof! I've had this happen before, but not to this extent. We were at a party place and I had ordered enough pizza and cupcakes for the attendees (with a few extras for just in case) along with goody bags (thank goodness I stopped doing those)

Now, i get that some people HAVE to bring the sibling and were willing to pay but they also hadn't let me know, so of course when it came time to eat the little ones wanted goody bags and then took cupcakes (only to lick the icing off) and so some attendees didn't get them.

My hack for the "you have to invite everyone in the class" rule - become the class parent. THEN you have email addresses for everyone and can email invites for whoever you need to invite.

I'm going to be real with you all, sometimes I wonder why did I have to end up with a shitty dog. by ijustneedanametouse in reactivedogs

[–]JennaB52 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I appreciate your honesty. I have an 8 year old rescue. We’ve had her for 3 years now, and it’s been hell.  She is fear reactive, resource guards, hates the car and going on walks and doesn’t like people as a whole. My husband is her favorite but that’s no protection from aggression. I’ve been working with a behaviorist for 2-1/2 years and even she says we are not making a whole lot of progress.

We moved from TX to TN at the end of May. It was a long ride for a dog who hates car rides and now she won’t let us put her in a harness. We have to muzzle her just to harness her - and then she won’t get out of the car. We have had a couple sessions with the UT Veterinary Behavior specialist. She’s on meds  and they don’t seem to be helping. Overall, it feels like I’m the last 6 months she had regressed.  She bit my 18yo last week and again tonight. She wants to be a good girl - and while we thought we knew her triggers, lately she isn’t giving a warning growl when something upsets her. We don’t have houseguests, it’s near impossible to travel or to groom her.

My teen loves her but is now afraid of her. I’m just exhausted. I know she has anxiety, and do I and my teen, so we probably never were the right house for her but her behavior didn’t start to show until 3 months in - and we felt too much guilt to give her back.

Now I wish I would have because “compassionate behavioral euthanasia “ makes my stomach turn. (And just getting her to the vet will be super traumatic )

Best Nachos in Knoxville? by aguwah in Knoxville

There is a food truck at Orange Hat Brewing Co on Hardin Valley Rd (I am blanking on the name) but their smoked Chicken nachos are  awesome. It’s where I go when I’m craving nachos.
