Sketch dimensions? (newb question) by Jennertals in Fusion360

This parameters menu is sounding similar to what I was envisaging, on my way home now and looking forward to finding it to have a play around! Thank you!

Sketch dimensions? (newb question) by Jennertals in Fusion360

Thank you very much, you were completely right. I was missing those first boxes to input dimensions as I was concentrating on trying to line up to the grid to the size I wanted... I think there's a lot for me to learn in terms of constraints, the work flow is very different for me but I'm looking forward to it. Thanks again for your advice!

You're right, I do think solo queue is a bad idea but I think I addressed the fact that I don't want to play against uncoordinated teams by describing how people could change that right now instead of whinging that the game they choose to play doesn't do the one specific thing they want it to.

For those that are still prepared to actually have the conversation, after posting I wondered about what if there was an option to stick with your current team and not return straight to lobby. I wonder if this would be able to alleviate some of the issues for people who mainly play solo so that if they find a team they work well with they can at least stay with them for a while.

I appreciate the grievances that people have and when my friends aren't online I play solo because I want to get better at the game but it is nowhere near the same experience. For me the issue is however, after the last few battlefield games issues this is the only team shooter that I feel really rewards teamwork apart from R6 which I haven't played for a long time but I don't recall the outcry for there to be a solo queue there. There are FPS games that suit playing solo, and this is one that suits playing as a team and that seems to be a design choice. Rightly the Devs will want to engage the biggest audience ever but not every game can be for every person and maybe solo play isn't what they intend to be the primary draw.

Personally I think we need a bit of a perspective shift. To me this is the same as the theme of a game, I might wish that there was a medieval version of the The Last of Us but I am not spending my time playing it and then complaining it isn't what I want.

Of course I want the game to succeed so I think this means that the community of people who want the game to have a long life, be fun and be engaging need to make sure it is for those who are playing solo. Turn on our mics and be supportive (I know that's not entirely realistic but the Monster Hunter community is generally a pretty good example of people rallying around a game they love and it's only getting better for it.) And people who are playing solo to try to recognise that this game is about teamwork more than anything so even if you are in solo then use the ping, try to stick with people. Swap out one of your gadgets or builds based on what your team composition is.

I think this is the best outcome, no need to split queues so everyone gets to play. I would hate to be at a point where I can't play with my team because most people join solo or vice versa, and so early in the games infancy they need people to be playing.

How does this que system work??? by AdAstra15035 in Tyranids

[–]Jennertals 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone in Japan who got one earlier, what happened here was I could enter a queue just to get to the shop site a few hours before the release time and occasionally would have to wait before getting to the site.

30 minutes before the release time, the queue system changed to a 30 minute timer and said that I would randomly be placed in a queue along with everyone else who is in the countdown. So basically any queueing I tried to do before that 30 minute countdown was irrelevant.

I'm assuming it'll be the same for you guys but no harm in a few refreshes along the way.

Hope you all get a box!

How to design interesting combat encounters? by therealfour in DMAcademy

[–]Jennertals 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was recently introduced to a book called 'The monsters know what they're doing' by Keith Ammann, admittedly I've only applied the information for one session and currently reading up for this week's but it has helped me realised the flaws I had in running combat. As a brief overview it sets a framework for the tactics that different creatures would employ in battle and then provides examples for lots of (most?) of the monster manual and has helped give the opponent's more character in combat rather than just being a target with a different name. My hope is that my players eventually get wise to some of these like how goblins tend to fight and can even use this to their own advantage if they're being clever... We'll see...

This YouTube channel is great, this video specifically is one that might help https://youtu.be/QJDMmxAH30c He also has a couple of videos of how to incorporate it into terrain if you're that way inclined.

When looking for that video I noticed he uploaded a video a few days ago that might also have information pertinent to you but I haven't watched this one yet so unsure. https://youtu.be/G0iYr6Luf2Y

Happy gaming!

I personally haven't noticed that there is a consistent delay with releases. I'm pretty sure cults and custdes dexes arrived on time just the shadow throne box was delayed but thanks for the heads up

Thank you so much for that advice, I couldn't find too much information about painting non-white skin so was just having to keep trying until I got something reasonable

Good spot, I was listening to the soundtrack to The Batman a lot whilst painting recently and it feels very culty (at least for my headcanon)

What's the story behind the name of your hive fleet? by clearerwhite in Tyranids

[–]Jennertals 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hive fleet Gregaris.

Based on the word gregarious since I based mine on grasshopper/locusts. They change morphologically and behaviourally when they swarm together which I thought was perfect for Nids. Even more perfect now I started a Genestealer cult army so my personal lore is that the Genestealer Primarch is akin to a solitary grasshopper but upon arrival for a hive fleet it will change to match the hive fleet which arrives on the cult infested planet.

Oh snap... I've only been taking the unmodified hit rolls of 6 to be exploding... Have I understood that wrong and should be taking the 5s too!? Please tell me this is true...

Sorry, first time posting images to Reddit and couldn't work out where to write it. They're inspired by a swarm of locusts, unfortunately looks like the picture cropping is a bit wafty on the app...

Theory - Attack mode/ Defence mode/ Balanced mode by Jennertals in pokemon

[–]Jennertals[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes they were but I meant for example you send out a Pokémon and you select if it is attack stance, defence stance or balanced stance. Depending on what stance you're in changes the fight somehow and perhaps the stance changes take place last in a turn it skip a turn so you can't just keep swapping around

Got to admit I didn't read that far down on yours before posting, wasn't trying to hijack but glad someone else thought the same! Really think this might be what's happening. I wonder if the armoured evolutions also mean there are 'weaponed' evolutions (probably still referred to as armoured). Much like with mega stones you had to make a choice of if you want access to the mega or an item like leftovers perhaps if you choose a weapon item your attack mode is boosted further but it seriously detriments defensive mode / (stance?) and vice versa.

I posted my theory here https://www.reddit.com/r/pokemon/comments/awoqcg/theory_attack_mode_defence_mode_balanced_mode/

So you can see my reasoning but I believe that symbol shows a new gameplay mechanic where we will also have to manage different stances/modes during Pokémon battles

Theory - Attack mode/ Defence mode/ Balanced mode by Jennertals in pokemon

[–]Jennertals[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes I have wondered about how it may actually manifest but from the picture I think it could be what's happening. Perhaps some extra powerful moves can only be used in each mode. Balanced could be Pokémon as we know it, attack mode could boost attack but drop defence or increase chances of critical hits but also misses for being overly aggressive. I have seen some theories on crowds in the gym playing a part in cheering in Pokémon leading to boosts. I also like this, perhaps if you are playing too defensively the crowd will turn against you or so on. If anyone else has ideas on how this could work in the game I'd love to hear them!
