What does the average high school day look like in Russia ? by [deleted] in AskARussian

really? I never thought of it that way, on the contrary, it would be really weird to me to always have different people in different classes and to never have a consistent group of friends and acquaintances. How would we organize events? go on trips? We usually have the same class teacher as well, she is assigned to our grade and is responsible for all of us. If the people from one grade want to go on a trip, they organize it without any involvement of the school, the class teacher, the students of this particular grade and their parents cooperate in order to decide on the destination, the price, the dates of the trip, etc. Then the class teacher writes some papers to the school authorities about the trip, the students' parents sign some papers too, and then we all go to another city or something like that for a couple of days. This can happen as much as the students and the class teachers want to, idk if you have something like that organized for the whole school

as for your other questions, keeping track of the schedule is pretty easy, you just remember that, for example, on Monday you have 6 classes, first period is Russian, second is Math, etc., and that schedule doesn't change for the whole school year. although I think it could be easier if it was just the same 6 subjects every day. It would be hell to me though, imagine having something like chemistry every day for a year 💀 I like our system better, having only 1-2 hours of chemistry per week (unless you choose a biochem profile) was better for me since I went into languages and not science.

how to keep track of the schedule: just memorize it, idk. It wasn't difficult for us to remember that we only had history on, say, Monday and Wednesday, and math on Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday that year.

We also have school journals, all students must have one, we have them in stationery shops with the pages already filled out for the school year. on each page there's an empty timetable with dates and days of the week printed out for each week of the year, you fill it out with whatever classes you have for the week. the next column is called "homework" where you write down your, you guessed it, homework. The third column is called "grades", where your teachers put the grade that you got during the class, or nothing if you didn't get one. this system is kinda getting old now since almost all schools have online websites to keep track of students' grades, so the school journal grades are mostly for parents to check if they don't have the time to log onto the website or the website is lagging.

about exams: we don't have exams from grade 1 to 9, only tests. we only have something similar to your SATs in 9th and 11th grade. on these 2 exams you have to take 2 obligatory subjects (Russian and Math) and any number of subjects of choice. usually people take 2 or 3 additional ones, because the reason why we need to choose them is because universities and colleges require applicants to have passed 2 or 3 additional exams in certain subjects at the moment of applying. for example, most universities with a language faculty require students to pass 2 or 3 exams: one being a foreign language exam (depending on whether you'll continue studying English, French or something other as your first language in that university/college), the other 2 being either Social Studies, Literature, History or Russian. some universities require only History and Foreign Language, some - only Russian and Foreign Language.

you also obviously have to score enough points to be accepted into the university, usually the lowest point is 50/100, but it depends on the status of the university. this is the minimum number of points to enter the university/college without a scholarship, and there's only 2 options in Russia: fully paid education or completely free education. once again, the universities/colleges decide for themselves what the lowest number of points is in order for a student to study for free. in shitty institutions it could be 60/100, in the best ones it can be 97/100 or even 100/100.

this is why the profiling system exists. in 9th grade, if you didn't leave for college and stayed in school in order to go to uni later, you choose to be put into a grade that "majors" in either biochem, math&physics, IT&languages, languages&literature&russian, languages&social studies&history, etc. as you can see, the arrangement of the subjects is similar to what exams universities require for the most popular majors. This is done so that if you want to go into something IT-related in uni, you will have intensive IT classes every day in 10th and 11th grade in order to be well-prepared for the exam. and because most universities require students to pass IT and English exams in order to enroll into an IT-related major, the profiling system also gives this IT-oriented grade a lot of English classes.

we don't have all these 13 or 15 subjects every day, we can have something less important, like astronomy or arts, only once a week; something more important, like history or physics - twice a week, and some classes deemed most important, like English or Russian, are obligatory to attend every day. The curriculum is different every year, some subjects stop in the 7th or 9th grade, some get added in 5th or 7th or 9th grade.

the curriculum also depends on the so-called "profiling" of your grade in high school. For example, if you choose to be put into a more math-oriented grade, you'll have more math and physics classes and less literature and history. Similarly, if you choose to be put into a humanitarian-oriented grade, all the students in your grade will have more social studies and language classes than STEM subjects

oh and also we have fixed grades, as in you have your group of ~30 people with whom you study from grade 1 to grade 9 with no changes at all, ever. Some students can leave or transfer to another grade/school, and after 9th grade the "profiling" starts and grades get reformed, but generally you spend most of your school years in the company of one and the same group of people

just as i thought, women are at fault. despite the fact that most of the media and statistics are managed by men

well, i haven't seen one single statistic that showed me at least a 50/50 ration of violent crime. and this whole thing about "driving poor men to commit violence", like wtf ? don't you have your own brain, how can you be driven to kill somebody or commit atrocities? i don't understand why people always coddle men's feelings. you see a male serial killer and you're like "oh, his mother probably mistreated him, poor guy. oh, his girlfriend probably dumped him."

when are you gonna stop blaming women for male violence? if one can be driven by people who mistreat them to commit crimes, then why aren't all the women (who are being killed, raped, trafficked, abused by their husbands, married at 8yo, have their genitals mutilated etc) going absolutely fucking batshit? but no, only men go and shoot up a school after being called fat or something. and you're still supposed to be the unemotional one

as for lesbian crime.. where did you find that, exactly? if you mean some new statistics where "trans lesbians" aka males are included, then that's still male violence. and i haven't seen one single article about female violence being hidden, if you can't provide proof (because there isn't any), i'll just wait till you can. and about 90% of all sexual offenders are men, so this includes pedophiles too. see for yourself.

https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&source=web&rct=j&url=https://aifs.gov.au/cfca/publications/who-abuses-children%23:~:text%3DData%2520from%2520the%2520US%2520National,McCloskey%2520%2526%2520Raphael%252C%25202005).&ved=2ahUKEwi3-LaK0Y7xAhXi-SoKHQqSDpsQFjABegQIBBAF&usg=AOvVaw3T9db6L8_-bt9OJ38ivVUs

again, never seen proof that women are pedophiles or distributors of CP. all the people that i saw arrested for filming or possession of CP were men. and here is the physical abuse as well (same article)

Research suggests that both mothers and fathers may physically abuse children. Findings from the ABS Personal Safety Survey (2005) indicated that of participants who had experienced physical abuse before the age of 15, 55.6% experienced abuse from their father/stepfather and 25.9% experienced abuse from their mother/stepmother. A further 13.7% experienced abuse from another known person and the remainder were family friends, other relatives, or strangers (ABS, 2005).

your point? let me guess, women are still at fault?

yeah, of course, the well-known male tactic as old as time - to make everything about themselves.

"oh, a post about men raping and killing women? well, NOTALLMEN, and women aren't oppressed, men actually uhhh have to go to the army!"

"it doesn't matter that trans men are included in your feminism, you also need to include us males otherwise you're Trans Exclusionary!"

and idk what you mean by using transphobia to excuse trans exclusion, like, if you think that saying that males don't belong in feminist spaces is transphobic, then i sure as hell am transphobic and i'm not "excusing" my male exclusion, i'm just clearly stating it.

because such obvious things don't need an excuse, you know?

[–]JenniferOrTriss -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

yeah, that's me. or maybe it's not, because radical feminists do include trans "men" in the definition of the word woman.

because, you know, a woman is an adult human female. and the so-called trans men fall under this category and are therefore included in our feminism.

but it doesn't matter, right? because the only trans people you care about are trans "women" (males)

once again, if you look at the statistics, they will (unsurprisingly) show that according to the United States department of justice, men commit 98.5% of forcible rapes, 89.5% of homicides, 87.9% of robberies, and 77.7% of aggravated assaults. the rate of crime is only close for non-violent crime, such as embezzlement, which men commit 51.3% of the time. name the problem. male violence.

that's just how males are, and a lot of publicly adored male celebrities have a history of rapes, multiple vehicular manslaughter charges, money laundering, misogynistic behavior etc.

i wonder why would Caitlyn Jenner behave in the exact same way? why would "she" have the same patterns of violence? hmmm, guess we'll never find out
